Main elevator was out of service. Continental breakfast was minimal & underwhelming. Comforter on bed was dirty. Room was frigid and couldn't use heater since it smelled like something burning and we couldn't ventilate the room because the windows didn't open. Sauna was out of service. Lobby, room, and pool area were otherwise clean.

Not great, but not bad

This is a nice hotel in a good location. Perhaps it has been renovated but much more work is urgently needed, including repair of the main elevator in this three-story hotel. There was a sign on it that said "sorry for ANY inconvenience" (emphasis added). The elevator outage should have had a repair crew working on it because that should be handled as an emergency. We had a room on the second floor and had a lot of luggage. The only other elevator we found was at the rear of this large, sprawling complex and it smelled musty. Many of the windows were clouded, including a pane of glass above the pool that looks as if it had a hole in it and the rest was shattered and potentially ready to fall onto swimmers below. That said, our room was comfortable, clean and had a nice view. And it was a fantastic place to go after a ride of the car ferry from Ludington, Michigan. Unfortunately, downtown Manitowoc doesn't have as many bars and restaurants as we expected so even though it is walkable to downtown, selections are limited.

We stayed here after getting off the ferry. It was fine and probably the best option for walking around the area. They are very clear about not offering breakfast so I knew we’d need to go out if we wanted to eat. I’d stay here again if I wanted to visit the area. The area just doesn’t have much to offer except the museum.

Staff was kind and the dogs could stay alone at rooms as long as they were quiet.

Around the property is not that clean. Some trash residues close to the lake.
