Shell Island Resort - All Oceanfront Suites

This place is GROSS and incompetent. First, the room: instant musty smell when we walked in; then dust… lots and lots of dust coming out from the AC vents, so bad that it turned our towels brown(pic below). Then I found the AC intake closet (which is in the center of the suite) and it is caked in dust and possibly mold!! (Pic below) Lastly, there is a random useless window above the bed in the bedroom. The window is right next to you the giant bright fluorescent hallway light. So all night it is like sleeping under a giant spotlight. I had to go buy posterboard at a nearby CVS and tape it over the windows to get any sleep. (Pic below) I had to sit on the balcony and use my inhaler every 4 hours for the entire week. Service: I stayed there for 5 nights with my 9 year old son. Not ONCE did housekeeping come. On day 3 I called the desk to ask what to do with my overflowing trash cans and they said “you can take your trash out to the dumpster at the end of the overflow parking lot” 🤯 When I asked for clean towels they acted like I was insane. There were never any pool towels out. I could understand this at a normal priced hotel. However, at these crazy prices, I should at the very least be able to put my trash out in the hallway and have it taken away, and be able to breathe inside my room.

Room being apartment style, the location at the end of the beach so it felt more private, and having a hot tub.

The location is great.

The room (511) we stayed in needs serious updates. The bed was old and broken. The mattress was terrible no support at all and the box springs were nasty. The shower head just offered a mist of water. Floors need to be replaced. The room also had an old musky smell. This was supposed to be a premium room. We have always loved Shell Island resort as we have stayed here for years, we booked another place for next year. I can’t believe they put people in a room like 511.

Room 218 all flooring was filthy. There was ketchup dripped inside small refrigerator. Refrigerator insulation was cracked in several places needed to be replaced. There was no dish soap supplied in kitchen, bathrooms toilet flush slow bathrooms needed updating, noob was broken on drawer. Cheryl handles and showerhead need replacing shower handle. We had to call Maintenance. It was very old kind of function. No water was coming out, but they showed us a tricky way how to make it work. The room only came with small bar soap,and only shampoo small tube was provided. Hotel did not offer any conditioner for hair. , all trim molding throughout living room bathrooms hallways were not clean or hasn’t been cleaned in a long time. For a cost of three nights day was very disappointing. My expectations were set much higher. The location is what sold me on staying, but I would not stay there again.
