Howard Johnson by Wyndham Merrillville

This hotel was absolutely disgusting. The cleanliness was absolutely nonexistent. The first room that I went into the toilet seat was completely covered in urine. The towels had what looked like rust on them. The bathtub did not look like it was properly cleaned, and there was dust and food crumbs all over the counter. If you value cleanliness this is definitely not a place you need to stay.

I refused to put my family in such a place. I canceled reservations after seeing the room, clientele, and area.

Our room had dirty sheets, full garbage can, pack of open gum on the tsble and wrappers on the floor. Hallways had cobwebs and non vacuumed floors. In and out in 5 minutes no refund

Horrible. Parking lot and grounds were overgrown. Broken windows, building literally looks like it’s falling apart. Lights out in hallways making it pitch black and dangerous. Breakfast was make your own waffles but the machine didn’t work. When I walked in the man at the desk just said ‘ID’. He told me my room number and nothing else.

There was no breakfast except one crappy waffle maker and cereal. We stayed for 5 nights and were only given 2 towels and not allowed any fresh ones. We were yelled at for using the microwave in the lobby at 10:30 to heat up our dinner. No microwave in room. No functioning TV. The property was poorly maintained and dirty.

Where to start, the front desk attendant was nodding off as she was trying to program my roomkey. She was without a doubt under the influence of opiates or sedatives. The room smelled musty, no Kleenex or toilet paper in the room, the garbage had not been taken out from the last guest. There was no remote for the TV. And the toilet didn't flush. And to top it all off, no shampoo, soap, or lotion in the room. Linens were filthy. This place needs some serious work. This property was stunning when it was the Carlton Lodge. Now it's a seedy drug den. I should be refunded. That place is absolutely filthy.

This place is dirty they don't have no TV you don't have no remote controls you don't have no Channel it's terrible service

I checked in here and checked out same day. The property was unkept on the outside. The rooms were not clean. The lobby was dark. I was extremely dissatisfied.

DO NOT STAY HERE ! A slum hotel the worst place i have ever seen . I lost a $90 reservation because i wouldnt stay her because it was not safe as well as being absolutely filthy. Staff was awful this is a buy the hour type motel . I would lay on the sheets in this place for nothing . Very very very bad ! STAY AWAY !

The worst place ever. It was run down with furniture that looked like it came from a thrift store, the locks were broke hallways smelled. The vending machines were broken. The ceilings were missing tiles and had wires hanging from them. I didn’t even stay I left after 15 of being in the room.
