DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Cedar Rapids Convention Complex

This stay was deeply disappointing and reflects poor management judgment. The hotel is undergoing active room renovations while simultaneously selling and occupying adjacent and overhead guest rooms, resulting in continuous construction noise beginning early in the morning — including on a Sunday. There was no advance warning at booking or check-in that this level of disruption would occur. The service response compounded the problem. Rather than proactively managing the situation or isolating guests from renovation zones, the burden was placed on the guest to endure the noise or complain after the fact. This is not a service failure due to circumstance; it is a deliberate operational choice. Renovating rooms next door and above occupied rooms would be comical if it weren’t so disruptive. Guests reasonably expect a hotel to provide a quiet, restful environment — particularly when paying full rates and staying under a major brand flag. Until renovations are complete and handled responsibly, I would strongly recommend choosing another property. Although, honestly, I will never stay here again.

Great hotel with kind and helpful staff! It's well located, close to restaurants and pubs, and only 15 minutes from the airport. The room was spacious, clean, and the bed was very comfortable. There's a nice rooftop bar with a great view – it's the same place where breakfast is served!

The only minor issue was the train line on the corner near the hotel, so in the evenings you could hear train noises and horns. There was a volleyball competition in town, and the athletes were staying at the hotel, so it was quite crowded. However, there were no real issues during the stay—just the expected delays with the elevators :)

For whatever reason, an otherwise nice hotel skimped out on light bulbs. So dark in the rooms. So much so that it takes away from an otherwise nice stay. I really don't understand it.

Close to lots of food and entertainment venues. Clean, updated.

Room was a bit small for the price.

Location and cleanliness

Front desk staff wasn’t overly friendly and the trains were very loud.

Enjoyed breakfast on the 16th floor with panoramic views of downtown Cedar Rapids.
