Malmaison Newcastle

We went on a bed and breakfast Travelzoo offer. It was all great! Lovely building right on the river. Our room overfed the Millennium bridge. Decor was quirky but everything fine, powerful shower/well stocked tea, coffee water and biscuits, comfy bed Breakfast was lovely, so much choice and the hot part served to you by a lovely chap. I had kippers! Delicious! Gradual uphill walk into town . We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would stay there again

We went for sunday lunch and the food was loverly our host Tessie was amazing very chatty and made our whole experiance delightful would defnetly recomend

Had a fabulous stay. Lovely room, friendly staff and great food. Breakfasts were particularly good. Loved the homemade compote! Good selection of cooked options also. Nice buzzy coffee shop at the front. A special mention to Tirso, our breakfast waiter, who was exceptionally smiley & attentive.

I was well looked after at the Malmaison. I had some issues with the location of my room and they arranged a move with no issues. The main highlight was Tirso at breakfast that made me feel welcome and made sure I had everythung I needed. A lovely friendly start to everyday :)

I stayed at Malmaison Newcastle for two nights while in the city for an interview and absolutely loved it. Check-in was simple, the service was friendly, and everything was clearly explained to me. The hotel is cashless and has a strong environmental focus, which I really appreciated. If you turn down housekeeping, they give you a voucher of up to £7.50 to use in the bar (enough for a pint of Moretti) or you can donate it to charity. My room (305) really impressed me. It was spacious, very clean and colourful, decorated with dark greens and reds that gave it a stylish, cosy feel. The bathroom was a decent size with a great shower, lovely-smelling toiletries and heated towel rails, which were a big plus. The toilet layout felt a little odd compared to the size of the room, but it wasn’t a major issue. My window looked onto nearby offices, so I kept the curtains closed when getting changed, but it didn’t bother me as I was mostly working at the desk. The gym was usable but could definitely be improved. There is one multi-gym machine that lets you work pretty much every muscle group, but realistically only one person can use it at a time unless a stranger is comfortable working in with you. The cardio equipment felt outdated and the treadmill was out of order during my stay, although the air conditioning was very strong, which was great for cooling down quickly after a workout. It was fine for getting a quick session in, but pickier gym-goers might find it a downside. The hotel restaurant was a real highlight and served some of the best food I’ve had in a hotel. It is on the pricier side, but you are paying for quality. The lady who served me was very friendly and welcoming, and the service felt personal. I’d definitely recommend the Asian slaw/noodle salad with sticky beef starter – it was excellent. There is also a Starbucks downstairs that does great sandwiches with friendly staff. The overall atmosphere of the hotel is upscale and boujee, with a seductive, noir, low-light vibe that works really well in the bar and public areas. The location is fantastic, right on the river, with a short, pleasant walk along the quayside into the city centre. It’s very easy for drop-off and pick-up if you’re using private transport, and I overheard other guests talking about using the hotel’s private parking. Noise levels were generally low. I did hear some construction or equipment noise at around 11 am one morning, but it was brief and, as a heavy sleeper, it didn’t disturb me. I would highly recommend staying here if you’re coming to Newcastle. You really do get what you pay for, and this experience was made possible by the excellent service and staff throughout my stay.

We stay here every year and it’s always fabulous. This year we upgraded ourselves to the suite and it was truly fantastic. All the staff are super friendly, especially Tessie in the restaurant. Nothing is too much trouble for her and she aims to please. The location is excellent too. Easy, scenic walk into town. We will be back next February.

What a great stay for NYE. Booked a junior suite and over moon to be given a high floor room facing the river Tyne. Check in lady was a little unpleasant but staff at breakfast were amazing. Special shout out to Tirso and team. Thanks
