Ports of Call Resort

The location is great and the price was much more affordable than other resorts.

The first room we were given had the worst spell of mold and mildew so we had to request another room immediately. It says check in is at 3 however our room wasn’t ready until 3:45 and then we had to be moved to another room so we lost some time the first day.

Breakfast was basic but ok. Rotate boiled eggs and bacon one day and scrambled egg the next day. Staff were friendly and helpful but stretched so always a wait to get help. Location very good and 5 mins walk to beach.

Rooms were basic. Even the updated rooms looking well used. Rusty around pipes and shower trays looked worn. No water pressure in shower or sink. Toilet seats wobbly, keys to rooms often not working, and aircon sounds like a plane is taking off. Kettle but no tea or coffee provided. Hot tub was gross - really dirty/cloudy with rubbish in it. I moved rooms 3 times due to issues. Lot of money for not very much. Paying for location rather than facilities. Room was only £500 less for a week compared to Ocean Club West which looked much nicer.

Pros- +Location- amazing and close to everything +Poolside room- adequate and cleaned each day. We had the little porch area and it was nice to have. +Breakfast- it’s free so tough to complain, yes things run out but there was always something decent. We appreciated it. +Pool and hot tub- very nice furniture around area, continuously cleaned. + Beach area- beautiful, chairs and umbrellas provided. + Great to have pool table and shuffleboard, ping pong was broken but appreciate these other items available. Cons- These are such easy fixes so I am surprised they even go on for more than one negative review. People and hospitality can make or break a resort. -Bartenders- unfriendly to say least. There were 0 poolside activities the week we were there although 4 were advertised, the 5th is offsite fish fry and we went to that. The bartender was so rude to myself and child that I told management. Play bingo if it’s advertised and you have guests, no one is doing it for the nominal prizes. The other bartender gave me a beer, glass and opener for beer when I ordered. It was the only drink we ordered because with service like that, you aren’t getting any more of my money. - Beach attendants- never seemed to do much except sit on phone. We even gave a nice tip day one to set up chair and umbrella but that was only day it was done for us or that we were acknowledged. - The dryer really didn’t work and I know they were trying to fix. One solution was for us to take plug out and put back in. I almost electrocuted myself doing that! It was the worst shock I have ever had. The next morning the kind housekeeping staff dried my laundry.

Breakfast was below average. At time was impossible to move in the room. It was over crowded and we opted to have breakfast at a nearby restaurant.

The front desk staff was terrible. One woman in particular was so rude and nasty she should never be in the hospitality business. Even the manager was of no assistance. The beach is quite a distance. The hotel offers a gold cart service. The driver was never to be found.

Would never recommend. Overpriced rundown motel 6.

The best fun was by the bar during happy hours and playing bingo

We booked Ports of Call Resort because it had very good reviews. It didn’t disappoint! It was clean and updated, with friendly staff. Watson, the pool bartender makes a mean rum punch! Lol. We prefer resorts that are smaller and it was the perfect size and location. Within walking distance to restaurants and shopping. We made some new friends and everyone we talked to planned on returning.

We loved it! Perfect place for our little family of three.
