Barceló San Salvador

Every time we visit San Salvador, we only stay at the Barcelo hotel. The entire staff is friendly, welcoming and helpful. They always go out of their way to accommodate you. The value of the hotel is well worth the price. The location is ideal for all types of activities, restaurants, night life and shopping to name a few. The rooms are extremely comfortable. They are clean, quiet and spacious. We’ve stayed at other locations because there were no rooms available in the past, and no other place compares to the service and quality you get at the Barceló.

My family and I stayed at this hotel for two weeks. Overall, there were several positive aspects to our stay, but there were also some significant drawbacks that would prevent me from returning. The Good: The staff were consistently friendly, professional, and attentive to our needs. Our housekeeper was especially pleasant and did an outstanding job keeping our room clean and tidy every day. The breakfast service at the Churchill Restaurant was excellent. The waiters and waitresses were welcoming, attentive, and provided exceptional service. The breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of food choices, and the quality of the food was excellent. The hotel's location is also convenient, with many nearby amenities within easy reach. Additionally, the property offers two parking garages—one indoor and one outdoor—which was a nice benefit. The Bad: Unfortunately, the hotel itself is in desperate need of renovation. The guest rooms are outdated, the furniture is old and worn, and the bathroom in our room was particularly disappointing. It lacked an exhaust fan, causing the room to become extremely hot and foggy after every shower. The excess moisture appeared to have contributed to mold growth in two small areas on the bathroom ceiling. Another issue was the noise. The area surrounding the hotel can be quite loud at night, so light sleepers may want to bring earplugs to get a good night's rest. We also encountered two roaches during our stay—one in the lobby and another in the dining area. While this appeared to be an isolated incident, as we did not see any insects in our room, it was still concerning. Final Thoughts: While the staff and service were excellent, the condition of the hotel did not meet my expectations. The online photos do not accurately reflect the current state of the property. Unless the hotel undergoes significant updates and renovations, I would not choose to stay here again.
