Gardenview Homestay Siargao

In a very good location, the quiet side of Siargao but near to restaurants and beach. The room feels homy with car park inside the compound.

I could not think of anything that my family and I do not like. It was the place that we need.

The staff are very nice and helpful. Any time I had a need they were able to take care of me. They have a dog and a cat who live in the garden who are clearly loved and well taken care of, which is refreshing after seeing how animals are treated in other parts of the Philippines. The property and amenities are comfortable and convenient enough, and the location is within a short drive of several nice beaches. There is a couple here who rent good scooters for good prices.

This isn't just an issue at this hotel, but is true across the island. Internet tends to be quite poor. This was a big issue for me, because I work online. The signal was fine for basic browsing, but not for video conferencing. Some days the signal strength dropped even lower. The video quality generally had to be very low, and when it got really bad there were times when I dropped out of calls. On top of that, power outages occur sporadically on the island, two or three times a week, lasting for a few hours or up to a whole day. There are places with generators where you can still connect to the internet, but it happened unexpectedly when I was in a meeting at one point. I would strongly discourage digital nomads from going to Siargao if they ever have to do video conferencing. In terms of this homestay in particular, the rooms are essentially small hotel rooms which open onto a narrow garden on the road. There is a fair bit of noise from the road, and it doesn't feel particularly secluded, particularly in the rooms around me, which faced the main gate. It's fine if you just want a place to stay in town, but don't expect a picturesque stay or to feel close to nature.

Le Gardenview Homestay est à première vue un endroit charmant, un jardin joliment décoré avec quelques chambres autour. Les points positifs : C'est relativement bien situé (même si il faut un scooter pour vraiment apprécier l'île) Il y a une fontaine à eau à disposition Ils proposent une location de scooter qui est très bien (bon scooter, bon prix et pas de mauvaises surprises) Calme la nuit. Le wifi fonctionne très bien (quand il n'y a pas de coupures d'électricité). Chien et chat très mignons. Les points négatifs : Les chambres sont très rudimentaires. Aucun rangement dans la chambre, toutes vos affaires seront posées par terre. Pas de ménage fait. On est obligé d'aller demander du papier toilette, de vider nous même nos poubelles, de demander de nouvelles serviettes, ... C'est vraiment très bruyant de bonne heure le matin et toute la journée (coqs, musique, travaux, le personnel qui parle et chante fort, ...) Matelas très inconfortable. Eau de la douche avec peu de pression et tout au plus tiède mais pas chaude. Clim bruyante. Quand il pleut (souvent) les égouts dégagent une odeur à vomir, impossible de se poser sur la terrasse. Et nous avons à deux reprises trouvé des cafards dans la salle de bain.
