Jekyll Island Club Resort

The Jekyll Island Club has been a family tradition at Thanksgiving. The island, bike paths, beaches, golf courses and all of the amenities are at your fingertips. Sitting on your veranda looking at the Christmas lighting never loses its shine. From the youngest kids to the grandparents there is something for all.

We stayed here for a wedding. First: The staff is amazing. Everyone is so nice and helpful. Next: the bad: The water smells terrible. Like, nauseatingly bad. And it's the whole island. Order a glass of water from any restaurant in town and you won't be able to drink it. Water pressure is abysmal. It's so bad, I had to get up early to shower because it would take so long to rinse under this trickle of water. Finally, you pay a $50 resort fee and they don't clean your room, even if you ask them to. If you are forced to stay here, enjoy the wonderful staff and drink bottled water (oh, they charge you for that too.)

We arrived for the holiday lights but found the hotel and its surroundings fascinating also during the day. Laved the early 1900s atmosphere, the grounds, and the proximity to points of interest.

The room was a little bit small; breakfast at the cafe has no low-sugar options for yogurt with granola.

There is no better place to get into the holiday spirit than with a visit to Jekyll Island Club Resort in December. The lights are amazing and a real treat for couples, families, or even solo. Don't miss the carriage tour at dusk!

We were in room 2311, 3rd floor. Overall nice experience! Pros: real coffee mug, liquid creamer, comfortable bed, quality toiletries, complementary bottled water, beautiful bar & lobby, property nicely landscaped, fridge in room, charging station by one bed, dimmable reading light, luggage rack, clothes steamer. Cons: squeaky bathroom door which will wake up anyone in the room in middle of night (wd40 would solve the problem), barking dog in hallway (hard to believe they allow dogs but they do), low water pressure in shower, no microwave

History of the Club makes for a lovely experience. However, the building is in need of maintenance - rotten decking, unmaintained landscaping, stained carpeting. It is also a shame that such a nice hotel does not offer an upscale night time dining experience. The Wharf or the Beach Club is not what I consider upscale. Thanksgiving buffet was amazing.

This is our second stay at the Jekyll Island Club. We were last here in 2021 and found the property to be in excellent condition, from furnishings to landscaping. We stayed in Sans Souci and loved the remodeled spa-like bathrooms. Every inch was extremely well maintained. Sadly, the service was lacking, at best. In fairness, it was on the heels of Covid and they were short-staffed, not to mention the resulting frayed nerves. We’re here now for several days over Thanksgiving and find this experience to be the polar opposite! The facilities throughout are dirty and shabby. The upholstery in the common areas has seen its last leg, both worn and soiled. We’re staying in Sans Souci again and the common areas smell of mildew. The furnishings have been replaced with cheap pieces that don’t fit the style of the architecture, at all. Think Mid-Century Miami meets Gilded Age Resort. BUT to a person we’ve interacted with the staff is 5-star! Kind, courteous, helpful beyond expectations. I want to give a special shout-out to Chef Courtney Hedges (so looking forward to your oyster roast, Chef) and Patina Jackson in reservations! Thank you all for being delightful hosts! Go figure. Maybe next time they’ll put the whole package together. 🤷‍♀️

Beautiful location with exceptional hotel! We had excellent dining experiences at the Grand Dining Room, The Wharf, and Eighty Oceans. We enjoyed riding bikes, touring on the trolley, and taking a carriage ride. All were great experiences. We also visited the GA sea turtle rescue center, Mosaic museum, and Faith Church. Each was within walking distance and worth the cost of admission. The beauty of the hotel and grounds exceeded our expectations. The sunsets were beautiful.

We had a wonderful long weekend at the Jekyll Island Club. We were outside all day everyday. The bike trails are amazing and everywhere. We played golf and the course was still new, but fun. It will be amazing in a year or two. The landscape and the history was to be savored. There are live oaks and grassy fields everywhere, beautifully kept. The historic tour was so interesting and fun. The people are very enthusiastic and friendly. We walked down to the Wharf restaurant for a beautiful sunset and fried shrimp. Eighty Ocean was a delicious fine meal. There are not a lot of restaurants on the island. Zachary's was fun too for sunset and similar to the Wharf. I love architecture so staying in the club was fun for me, but it isn't a fine luxury hotel. It is amazing to me that all of it belongs to the state. They are doing a good job and seemed to be grateful for us to stay there. There are so many stars and it is so quiet. No fast food places and no road noise to be heard. We will go back.
