Tired looking old style hotel in need of a refresh, albeit in a beautiful setting. They should take a hint from the Harborview in Edgartown and update everything.

Location, Staff, Accommodations - Simply the Best!!! Chatham Bars Inn never let's me down. Whether it is off season or peak of summer, I am always impressed.

Four Stars. Though Not Without Reservation. Chatham Bars Inn presents itself, and indeed has long presented itself, as the crown jewel of Cape Cod hospitality — a grand resort of the old tradition, where refinement, comfort, and the particular magic of the New England coastline converge into something genuinely special. One arrives with expectations set accordingly high. And for the most part, the property obliges. The grounds are handsome. The setting upon the water is, one must concede, genuinely magnificent. The staff conduct themselves with warmth and professionalism that reflects well upon the establishment. These things are not nothing. They are, in fact, considerable. And yet For the rates commanded — and they are commanded with extraordinary confidence — one expects an experience entirely without friction. One expects to feel, at every turn, that the establishment is fully aware of what it has promised and is wholly committed to delivering it. There were moments during my stay where that commitment felt somewhat less than total. Service that occasionally suggested a establishment coasting upon its reputation rather than actively earning it. Dining that was accomplished but rarely transcendent, which at this price point is a distinction that matters considerably. Certain appointments in the accommodation that, examined closely, revealed a property in need of sharper attention to detail than was presently being paid. Chatham Bars Inn is not a disappointment in the ordinary sense. It is something more particular than that — it is an establishment that knows exactly what it ought to be, has all the necessary ingredients to be precisely that, and yet somehow stops just fractionally short of its own highest standard. On Cape Cod, with that view, at those rates, fractionally short is not quite good enough. One returns home having been comfortable, certainly. Having been impressed, occasionally. But having been genuinely transported — which is surely the point of a resort of this ambition — rather less than one had hoped. Four stars, then. Warmly given for what it is. Quick overnight trip to celebrate a birthday. Staff is extremely helpful and polite. From the moment you arrive, the valet, the front desk, the restaurant staff all made the experience top notch! The buffet is excellent.

We were there for the Spring Wellness Retreat and had a wonderful relaxing time. We were wishing there would've been more to do as a group with both men and women throughout the day so we could meet some new people and get to know them. We only saw the group for one hour on Friday when we arrived. But nonetheless, it was a very nice weekend away.

We booked 1 night in a double queen room at a cottage near the spa. The room was spacious and comfortable. It’s a kind of room you want to hang out in all day and read a book by the fireplace. We enjoyed an extremely good night sleep. It was very quiet. Being that it was a windy cold March weekend off-season, there were no activities going on. I booked a spa treatment, which was excellent, but even the spa facilities were not all in order. In the evening, we ate at the Sacred Cod. This was warm, welcoming and lively. The food was upscale pub fare - nicely done but on the heavy side. Afterwards, we hung out in the great room by the fire and socialized with guests. It’s an absolutely lovely space with water views. Overall, it was a very lovely 24 hours, and I found the R&R I was looking for. I do question if it’s worth this kind of money when many of the facilities are closed, none of the attractions are available, and there’s nothing going on. But if you want a lovely getaway in a luxury setting, you will find it here. Note: All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. You felt well taken care of.

We stayed in a premiere suite on the second floor of Bayberry Bluff cottage . It was spacious, beautifully decorated and offered many amenities: robes, slippers, espresso machine, tea kettle, water and a gas fireplace. The bathroom was large: two sinks; large, soft, fluffy, absorbent towels, deluxe toiletries. Beds were comfortable. We had an ocean view on one side, parking lot view on another and street view on another. The staff was top-notch: friendly, helpful, professional. Housekeepers came by in the morning and evening. Complimentary coffee is provided each morning in the main lobby of the Inn. It was an awesome visit that I would certainly like to do again.
