AC Hotel by Marriott Portsmouth

Dingy little place. Front desk took almost twenty minutes to check me in and they charge $18 for their continental breakfast. I went next door to the hampton inn for a cup of coffee without the hassle. I'll stay there next time. Hotel room was standard.

This was a beautiful hotel with a fun rooftop dining experience! Things to consider before you book though: parking is $40 a day and there is a $25 mandatory spend charge each day on top of the standard room rate and taxes. The staff were friendly and location was great. I just wish those extra fees were in the standard rate to begin with. It became a very expensive stay quickly.

Breakfast was great!

Loved our stay smelled clean and everything looks clean. Quiet to sleep and relax. Do have to point out no microwave in general rooms and no fan to run while showering but over all great time and close to be able to shop around town and see cites all close. Roof top bar is great views and awesome igloos on the roof to eat in. It was $40 valet parking but def worth it. Staff was very accommodating and friendly. They even tried to set up with reward program.

We had such a great stay! Clean, cozy, walkable to great stores and restaurants. Staff were so kind and helpful! Best of all… Dog Friendly! Already booked reservations for February.

Easy access to downtown

Our friends were visiting from Connecticut, and we wanted to show them everything Portsmouth offers. Thankfully Marriott Bonvoy points got us a deal at the modern AC Hotel. There are amazing restaurants and shops, only a short walk away. They charge a nightly $25 destination fee, but it is given back to you to use at the rooftop bar, lounge, or breakfast. In addition to this, they also have partner restaurants and shops throughout the city that will give you discounts! 10% off at Gus & Ruby was a nice touch. Room 219 was modern, clean, and most importantly, quiet. Even though our room had a direct street view, we didn't hear a peep all night. The room was spacious and had enough room for everyone to get ready. My only complaint is that I wish Marriott would get rid of the see-through bathroom doors. Yes, they look nice, but they lack privacy. The hotel has a lot of cute custom touches - such as lemon & orange water served throughout the afternoon, and during this visit, they had apple cider donuts up for grabs at the front desk. The Rooftop at the Envio has been one of our favorite restaurants in the city, and I am happy that we enjoyed a few cocktails before going to our room. One tip - do yourself a favor and park at the Foundry Place Garage; parking is only $1 an hour, whereas the valet parking at the AC is $40 a night.
