Sotetsu Fresa Inn Seoul Myeong Dong

The Hotel, staff and location excellent... The area was just too overwhelming after a couple of days...

I rarely write reviews for past hotel stays as they were either average or above average. Most importantly, they have met a basic requirement – for a comfortable rest/sleep. NOT for Sotetsu Fresa Inn Myeongdong. This could easily be the WORST hotel I’ve ever stayed in. 1. Requested for no corner room & higher floor. Perhaps due to the room type & my late check-in timing, these were not fulfilled. But that’s fine as I do understand that it is based on availability. 2. The room’s noise insulation is terrible. Could hear noises outside the room (e.g. closing of doors, talking and dragging of luggage). On my 1st night, I was woken up at 5am due to the noises. 3. As my room ended up at Level 5, everyday from 8.30am onwards, music will start blasting from the stores at street level. Due to the pushcarts on the streets, noise will only subside after they close for ops at around 11.30pm. Meaning at this hotel, you can’t sleep early and will be woken up early. 4. Received a notice from the hotel that there was construction work outside the hotel from 12am – 4am on 9 Nov. On the previous day 8 Nov, could hear throwing of wooden planks at 7.40am. 5. The toilet got clogged with merely toilet paper. 6. The last straw was on my 6th day of stay, the room’s warmer was discovered to be faulty. My room was freezing cold and I got sick from that eventually. The staff offered a room change but the initial plan was ridiculous. They almost made me change rooms every other day. Meaning I had to keep unpacking and packing when it wasn’t my fault? Anyway, though the location is good. There is definitely far better hotels around the vicinity. The first and last time that I will stay in this hotel.

It is in Myeongdong and actually on the night street. Very convenient and right opposite the Tourist information centre. It was a bit hard to find because there are retail shops in the same building. Their sign will show up bright on the top of the building. They provided breakfast but you have to go to 4 different retail places and not very good. No buffet breakfast. All individual orders. You will need to pay 1 to 2000 Won to try the Korean traditional breakfast. Staff are very helpful and courteous. The closest Myeongdong exit is #8 and you can see the hotel sign on top of the building at night. Ask the tourist information helpers wearing red uniform if you cannot find them. There is also a paid laundry on the lobby floor. Very safe. Room is not very big.

Great stay! Very close to MyeongDong Main Street and only about 5 min walk to a main metro. Overall great stay, just not much space for luggage’s to open up.

Smallest room ever. For 2 people, it was impossible to move. There was a smell of urine in my first room, so I requested a room change. I got the same room layout but on a lower floor. Then all I smelled was restaurant cooking. My kids room was 2 twin beds but it was stuck together because the room was also small, but at least you could get off the bed from both sides. With so many other hotels in this location, do not choose Sotetsu!

The property is right at the heart of Myeongdong shopping and nightlife. The staff is great, extremely friendly and helpful. However, the room is tiny, can’t even fit 2 people in a hallway or restroom or anywhere. No space for luggage, even with 2 carry on.

Booked a standard room which was a little small but it was clean & comfortable. Good location between 2 metro stations: Euljiro 1 & Myeongdong. Guests can access lobby on Level 13 without security card. Myeongdong's nightly market is right outside & also plenty of restaurants. Enjoyed a great show at Nanta Theatre, 1 block away.

Compact but very clean and comfortable. Loved the pyjamas provided. Lots of shopping and street food downstairs. Near the metro and buses.

The hotel door literally opens up in front of the street food market. And Myeongdong cathedral is a minute walk away. Rooms are small but typical for the area. Self laundry is inexpensive.
