The Crown hotel

Nice room, very quiet, freshly decorated. Warm welcome, decent location. Excellent dinner - the menu is normal fare but it's well done. The Moules Frites was far better than most I have had in France this year.

The breakfast was adequate although I didn’t have a cooked breakfast.

I thought the one night I had dinner the service was very slow.

Staff were pleasant and helpful. Bed was comfortable.

The room requested was twin but we got a double. For the price I was not pleased with the tired state of room decor in places such as badly scuffed internal door and furniture. The skirting painting in the bathroom had clearly been done in a hurry without any masking and looked a mess. There was rusting in the bath. There was no plug point on one side of the bed and cobwebs and spiders in the window double glazing. The impression we got was that although the staff were perfectly pleasant, there is a lack of care and attention from the management to obvious details that customers paying £180 a night would expect. We won't be going back.
