The Sanctuary Cornwall

We spent a wonderful few days staying in the larger apartment at the sanctuary. Everything was spotless clean and super comfy. Bonus was the size of the grounds directly behind the cabins which we were able to explore with our dog for morning / evening walks!

Karen and David are wonderful, friendly and knowledgeable hosts who will happily chat and enjoy making their guests' time special. So much thought has gone into the ongoing development of the Sanctuary, all designed to make guests' stay enjoyable, and offering opportunity to learn more about the choices we make that impact our environment. We stayed in the Oak room as my husband is a full time wheelchair user. He could not fault it and was impressed with the level of investigation and thought that had gone into the room. The self contained apartment at the other end of the building is similarly equipped for wheelchair users.I loved walking around the 12 acre site along the random paths that David had created, exploring the wooded areas, orchard and kitchen garden and lazing for a little time in a hammock looking down across the water. We loved the balcony with its view over the estuary, comfy seating and phenomenal sunrise! Go to this lovely place to switch off from the hustle and bustle and have some quiet time to recharge.

It is true that the drive up to The Sanctuary is a little challenging especially in a large car. However, David had some great advice to manage the most challenging turns, so returning after an evening at the local pub was much easier. You would get used to it pretty quickly.

Excellent breakfast on the balcony with superb, tranquil views. Sustainable approach to everything, from the building, energy, to the amazing grounds.

The views, the food, the warm welcome (which included a lovely welcome cake), the fact that it’s a great example of how sustainable and environmentally friendly tourism doesn’t mean a drop in quality. The location and the views were exceptional - so peaceful and relaxing.

Amazing location with spectacular views across the river Fowey. The perfect place to relax and unwind. Ultra clean rooms and great breakfast. Karen and Dave were fantastic hosts. It is also an excellent base for exploring Cornwall (Nearby: Eden Project, The Lost Gardens of Heligan & St Ives via train from Par etc.)

We have just returned from a 11 day stay in the Barn Owl (self catering apartment) at the Sanctuary. We have both had an amazing holiday in a stunning location with an amazing view over the estuary from a huge balcony off of a perfect apartment. We will definitely go back as it was the perfect place to holiday with our dog. Karen and Dave are the perfect hosts, always around, informative and friendly but never intrusive. There 12? acres of woodland, orchard, meadows and garden are a credit to them and they encourage you to enjoy the space in which there are plenty of hammocks and benches strategically placed to give you great views.

Great breakfast with the focus on local ingredients which were all delicious and we enjoyed eating it on our private balcony overlooking the river.

Wonderful stay, we really enjoyed the locally sourced breakfast on the balcony, could have stayed there all day. Karen and her husband where so friendly and welcoming. It was great to walk down to the local pub for a meal in the evening, there's also a path which is part of 'The Saints way' to walk to Fowey. Great stay, amazing location we will return.
