The Devonshire Arms

The location is great, the staff are great, the room was really nicely kitted out and decorated, pleasant and comfortable, lots of thoughful touches, proper coffee machine, biscuits, hand cream etc.

BATHROOM. There is a real issue in room 2 - going back over the feedback, we see this has been an issue since 2003. It needs sorting. There is a very strong smell of sewage coming from the shower. We tried to put towels over the drainage holes and closing the door but the smell was overwhelming and even woke me up. We couldn't face showering in there, and the shower looked a bit grimy too. There was a fan switch above the door that I noticed the next morning, hard to reach without a chair, and had been switched off for some reason, so that it didn't come on automatically when you turned the light on. Cleanliness was mostly OK but very dusty radiators and window sill, and dirty mirror. Then there were the paper-thin walls, and the very loud noise of the rooms on either side of us using the bathroom - so loud you couldn't hear the TV, or if they used the bathroom in the night, it could wake someone up. The room is OK for someone with little sense of smell and who is not bothered about noise from the pipes.

Restaurant and bar were great with lovely food and staff. Room size and furniture were ideal. Great shower

Faulty coffee machine. Noisy bathroom extractor fan.

Room awesome , good size and well equipped , service great , had Sunday lunch in restaurant and was very good
