Courtyard by Marriott Huntsville University Drive

We almost didn't find the hotel because the outside sign was burned out and we couldn't find the location on our GPS. Upon our late arrival, the desk clerk was exceptionally nice. We searched for the elevator (our room was on the 3rd floor) and had to loop back to the desk to ask again for directions and finally found that the elevator is waaaaay in the back of the hotel. We were told to park on the side and use the side doors to be closer to the elevator. The cards did not work the outside doors and had to walk back around the dark building to the front to be told that other guests were sticking coins in the door to hold it open, which to me invited unregistered guests into the building, making it unsafe. The room was very clean, but also very dated. There were long black hairs all in the shower, but otherwise the room was clean. The bed was as hard as bricks and the pillows so soft and flimsy we had to double them to provide any height for our heads. We were at a volleyball tournament all the next day to come back and find the cards still did not work the outside doors. The ice machine was broken on our floor and there was no vending available. We tried to get breakfast the next morning but was told they were out of yogurt but offered to provide fruit instead. The oversized TV was very blurry and had no clear picture, but our name on the display was a nice touch. The second night we still found it hard to find the hotel as the light was burned out. The three employees we dealt with were extremely pleasant, but the amenities overall is why I gave it a poor review.

Definitely an older hotel that’s needs a little love. A decent stay

I read several reviews about the Courtyard Huntsville and was initially very skeptical about staying there. When I arrived, the 1980s look of the building immediately stood out, making me feel like I had stepped back in time. After parking, I grabbed my luggage and headed inside. The front desk associate, a young African American woman, greeted me with a warm welcome. She was very pleasant and took the time to inform me about the hotel’s ongoing renovations. She also mentioned the Bistro and let me know that, due to the renovations, the fitness center and laundry room were closed. However, she assured me that I could use the fitness center at the Fairfield and the laundry facilities at the Residence Inn, which I really appreciated. After thanking her, I took my key and made my way to the elevator. I won’t lie—the hotel is definitely aged, but the staff and management are phenomenal. The elevator and hallways were clean, and when I got to my room, I immediately noticed a fresh, clean scent. As I looked around, I saw that while the furnishings were older and worn, everything was tidy and well-maintained. Later that evening, I decided to try the Bistro, and the food was fantastic. As I got ready to wind down, I turned on the TV and saw my name displayed on the screen, just like at other Marriott properties—a nice touch. I logged into my Netflix account, relaxed, and eventually went to bed. The bed was comfortable, though the pillows were just okay. The shower had great water pressure, and the bathroom was standard but clean. The next morning, I went down for breakfast and had another great experience. The food was delicious, and the service was friendly. When it was time to check out, I was greeted by the same front desk associate who checked me in—Netta. She was just as friendly and professional as before. This hotel has its challenges, but the staff and management truly go above and beyond. If you’re considering staying here, don’t judge the team based on the building itself—they are doing their best with what they have. The renovations are underway, so I’d recommend being patient and giving them a chance. The service alone makes it worth the stay.

Nice hotel

Outdated and mold in all the vents of the room. Floor and furniture had many stains. Overall this property need major upgrades!
