Courtyard Virginia Beach Norfolk

Parking was few & far between. Property was under construction, which was a surprise. We would not have chosen this hotel, had we known. Construction materials were strewn about and the outside area had trash on the ground all around. Hallways were under construction & had no carpet, crew or hotel staff had written notes on the walls next to door room entries. Very limited lighting around the outside of property.

The property appears to be in the middle of a renovation, yet they are still renting rooms. The hallways were dusty and smelled like pet urine. My room wasn't completely clean the shower had soap scum on the walls and shower curtain from the last visitor. I see that the property has potential, the staff just needs to care more about the customers experience and impression.

This place was nasty. We had a cockroach one night. The first night we got relocated due to a leak. The fitness center is under construction and not sectioned off. It looks very dirty and not up to par with other marriots. It might get better but who knows... It looks like parts are renovated but not well.

I would suggest not staying here until after renovations are complete. I now see it’s listed on their website, but I booked through corporate travel so I was unaware of the major renovations. Had I known the bistro for breakfast was complete closed along with the fitness center, I would have booked another nearby Marriott property. Even the grab and go market is very sparse. They do have coffee in the rooms and lobby, which is better than nothing. The room looks newly renovated and the design aesthetics are nice, but still smells like paint/dusty, which is less than ideal. I don’t see a telephone in the room so if I needed to call the front desk I would have to use my own phone to call the main hotel number. I appreciate that updates were made, based on reviews I have read it was pretty bad here before, but the main public spaces are still under major construction. The desk in the room is good and the lighting above the desk is also good. I kept setting the thermostat to 70F and it would reset itself to 72F. The room felt hot and humid. The shower was nice, good water pressure and temp, a bit cramped space wise. Towels were soft! I was on the 3rd floor and it was very quiet. Overall, I think once fully renovated it will be nice.

I liked nothing about the property. It was extremely run down and they were attempting to remodel it. The remodel was horrible craftsmanship by their contractor. Parking lot was horrible. Pictures on booking.com website were definitely AI done. Truth is it was false advertisement.

Admittedly this is a hidden gem. At first I hesitated, because there was a little bit of construction. But wow, am I glad I went in. Everyone was so nice. I was very happy. Everyone was professional respectful and pleasant. It's also neat how the rooms opened up into this large courtyard. The room was super comfortable and cozy and not stinky. I say this because a lot of hotels do use a lot of cleaning products sometimes. A very nice and pleasant stay. Leena the customer service person was also incredibly pleasant.

I was able to check in a little bit early only come to find out my tv was not working properly. The gentleman at the front desk was able to assist and get the tv working eventually.
