Courtyard Scottsdale North

The beds were good.

The hotel was definitely dated and could use some upgrading/remodeling. The shower did not work well with much of the water going out of the bath spigot instead of the shower head. I had a room on the third floor overlooking the pool and the traffic noise was horrible. It was so loud it sounded like the window was open to the street.

I didn't not read they reviews to this Courtyard before I booked and stayed. After reading them I have to say that my experience was not what others had. I will admit that the parking it ridiculous. My visit was for Christmas and I booked this hotel at the last minute when I found the rate of $88 a night. Compared to other Scottsdale Marriott properties this was an exceptional rate! My stay was paid in advance which was noted when I checked in. I was about to get my room two hours earlier than what I had scheduled for check-in and I appreciate that as I had just driven from Palm Springs. Since I was a Silver level member and it was the holidays, they waived the parking fee for my entire stay. The stay during my stay was very friendly. My room had a king bed with a view of the pool area. There was a small balcony with two chairs and small table. It was warm in Scottsdale for the holiday and that evening I sat outside to eat my dinner that I ordered from a local Mexican restaurant. The bed was comfortable, and I liked the sheets stayed tucked in my entire stay. So often, the sheet become lose after a few hours in bed. The room did get warm at night and i had to turn on the HVAC to cool it down. There was a small sofa and desk, with a fridge in the cabinet. I liked that there was not a door that opened to access the fridge. I didn't use the TV as I stream on my laptop, but they do have some streamers on the TV app. Internet worked great! The towels in the bathroom did not seem up to quality as a Courtyard but the shower was strong, hot water plentiful and easy to get in and out of. The location of this hotel is right next to a major intersection with lots of traffic noise. Keep that in mind if you like to have the window open. But it makes it easy to get around the north Scottsdale area. Arizona State Route 101 is a short hop to the north and then you can get all over the valley. There is a bar and bistro in this hotel, neither of them did I interact with. The hotel only had a handful of guests over the holiday. That is probably when the rate was so low and the parking was free. There is a Black Bear Dinner next to this hotel with meals on site or to go. I had a good visit at this Courtyard at the low rate that I received. I would not stay here at a higher rate, especially with an $11 parking rate. If you find a great rate, then this property should be under your consideration.

The staff was friendly and helpful.

At check in a very not so smiling attendant who looked liked security staff as he was not in typical dress code for reception staff checked us in. Did not tell us that there will be no change of linen or towels unless asked for. He did not mention if we need a password for wifi or not nor did he offer to help with luggage. Not that we needed it, asking would have been nice. COming back to the room we found the room with no fresh towels nor anything else cleaned in the bathroom or shower. 2 hours afte request fresh towels had to call again and the reply was sorry we sent it to the wrong room - well there is a room ID on call calls to the reception. On requesting for a late check out a very stern NO , 11am is your check out time. Not to mention a small cup of house coffee costs $4.5 - go starbucks you have competition
