I booked accommodation 21-22 Feb, approx 6 weeks before we were due to arrive the hotel rang me and cancelled my booking as the hotel was closing that weekend due to refurbishment. I had to make alternative arrangements but they still charged me £372 which they are refusing to refund.

I am writing this review to highlight a significant lapse in communication and service we experienced during our recent stay in Windsor. Because we had an early flight, I proactively asked the front desk if there were any options for an early breakfast. Two separate reception staff members assured us that because the chef arrives at 5:00 AM, they could have breakfast delivered to our room by 6:00 AM. Even when I pointed out that the official breakfast time didn't start until 7:00 AM, they insisted it would be no problem at all. We planned our morning around this expectation. However, at 5:50 AM just ten minutes before the scheduled delivery we found a note pushed under our door stating that breakfast would not be coming. The issues we had with this were: • Poor Timing: Why wait until minutes before delivery to notify us? If the arrangement changed, we should have been told much sooner so we could make other plans. • Lack of Effort: The staff claimed they tried to call the room the night before with no answer. Even if that were true, they could have easily slipped the note under the door before we went to bed rather than waiting until the morning of our flight. • Broken Reliability: We relied on the word of two different employees and were ultimately left with no food before a long travel day. The lack of accountability and the "last minute" nature of the notification was incredibly unprofessional. While the hotel itself has potential, I would not recommend relying on their staff for special requests or time-sensitive commitments.

Shame there was renovations going on but they did their best

Beware! There are major renovation works being carried out throughout the majority of the hotel that are not clear from the website. Guests are housed in some strange semi temporary accommodation behind the hotel. There is no lounge or bar or restaurant - it feels a bit budget at the moment until the works are finished I assume. It’s a shame as TJ expectation is of a historic English high quality experience. Check with the hotel before you book!!
