Mercure Chester Abbots Well Hotel

staff were great lovely atmosphere at the bar and excellent parking weather you have a motorcycle like we did or a car, easy check in not sure on food as we didnt eat at the hotel

they definitely need to upgrade the rooms above the ground floor we were sent to the floor above and as soon as you walked up the stairs it was absolutely horrendous heat up there and then got to our room and thought the air con be on now when we get in but NO we had a very rubbish tall standing fan that was basically broken and pushing NO cold air through even the hair dryer didn't have a cold setting we literally had to take it in turns sitting in a freezing cold bath full of cold water just to cool ourselves down for 5 minutes and then soak towels in cold water to then sleep on in the night as it was so so hot in the rooms we asked the desk for another fan and was told "i can give you 9 broken ones" for a 4 star hotel i expected better especially for what the rooms cost

The staff were really friendly. We got 2 free drinks whenever we wanted them during our stay. Mini bar in the room and the room itself was exceptional, very clean, very roomy and very comfortable. The breakfast was very enjoyable too.

The tables in the restaurant could be spaced out a little better as I kept having people knocking into me as they tried to walk past me and another table.

We had an horrendous night with our bedroom on the ground floor next to the Water system, which started up every hour with an awful noise. Avoid Room 111. Reception offered to move us to a higher floor but the hotel has no lift and we have mobility issues and couldn’t manage the stairs so we had no choice but to put up with the noise. The following morning Laura arranged for us to be transferred to another ground floor room and transferred our belongings whilst we were out in Chester. The difference allowed us to have a restful night. The bedroom 111 should not be used, however, the hotel is aware of the issue and are investigating whether insulation or sound proofing will cure the noise. GED
