The room was run down, the toilet didn’t flush. Someone had placed tissue paper in the spy hole and there were marks all down the wall. There was a smell of cannabis in the corridor and when I arrived there were guests swearing outside.

The leisure facilities were very welcome.

The location was a bit out of town.

This was the worst night's sleep we'd ever had at a hotel. We stayed on a Saturday night in June during hot weather. The rooms have no air conditioning and windows that only open a very tiny amount, so the room was stiflingly hot. A very old, very ineffective, and very noisy standing fan was provided, but that made no difference. To make matters worse, there was a wedding on, and the hotel had put our room on the side of the wedding bar (why, as a hotel, would you do that?), so it was extremely noisy. The noise continued through the night with people drunk in the corridors, slamming doors and thumping music. The hotel clearly does not think about non-wedding guests, so I would be very cautious staying here if you aren't going to a wedding. Otherwise the facilities were quite tired (poor shower for example) and check-in took forever despite having pre-paid and provided all details in advance via booking.com.

The hotel was very clean and we did get a warm welcome. I did like that there was an option to order food to our room. Especially after a very long journey. The facilities were really good including a well stocked bar, good food and a leisure centre.

We did call ahead to let the hotel know that we would be bringing our dog with us. As far as I was aware there should have been bowls for us in our room but the person at reception was not aware that we were bringing the dog. It felt a bit awkward. I also didn't like the fact that we had to pay for parking as the hotel didnt own the car park. Each morning I was woken up to the sound of the housekeepers trolley being rolled along the corridor at around 7am. After travelling for more than 8 hours the day of arrival this was not a welcome noise. My parents were also with us, and I booked the rooms. Unfortunately their bathroom had a leak which was causing dampness on the bedroom wall. The reception was informed upon departure.
