Gloucester Robinswood Hotel By Sunday

The facilities were excellent, with a lovely swimming pool, steam room, sauna, and well-equipped gym.

The room was too hot, and the swimming pool was also overly warm. There was no free parking available.

Bacon was nice. Receptionist on duty when we arrived was lovely. (A black gentleman). Spa staff also lovely and a great massage.

Not a great choice but what was there was nice. However, staff were slow and replenishing items, particularly eggs was ridiculous. The restaurant is tied and dirty - cobwebs around light fittings, torn chair covers etc. 40 minutes to try and order room service - had to go down - twice. Was told we’d be phoned back - nothing. Eventually order taken at the desk but was told it was the wrong menu. When I said it’s in the room I was told “well that’s the hotels problem not mine”. I was also told he (a particularly well built gentleman) that he’d “been stood there all day and that phones hadn’t rung” despite the fact he wasn’t there when I’d first arrived, or when my wife came down and reception passed on the message about a call back. A blatant lie. Laziness! Don’t advertise a service if you can’t meet demand. The food was not worth the £80 paid.

My wife and I are 82, we need a walk in shower. Getting in and out of the bath id dodgy.

Location was good if you are visiting Gloucester or the West of the Cotswolds. Good selection of breakfast items.

Arrived and paid for parking as instructed by the website £5.00 per night. When checking in, one of the staff said I should have told him as we would have sorted it so we weren’t charged. Asked him to refund it and we were told as it is run by a third party, they can’t refund it. They did offer a free drink, and I asked them to take it off the cost of the breakfast, and I was told the catering was run by a third party, so they can’t. If you book breakfast online, it’s £10pppn, this I tried to do and was told to speak to reception when checking in. When checking in they wanted to charge us £14.95 pppn. I told them I’m not paying that, so they did honour the £10 pppn and I asked them to also deduct the cost of the parking which they did. A few other things, like no batteries in the tv remote (that was another faff, trying to get batteries as they didn’t have any), no toilet brush or hygiene bags in the bathroom. Not what you expect for an AA 4 star graded hotel. The leisure facilities are included but like the rest of the hotel, very dated and not particularly clean (peeling paint and rusty metalwork). No locks for the lockers so you had to hope nobody decided to pinch your clothes.

Needed stopover for long drive. 10 mins from M5. Quiet location with plenty of parking. Receptionist gave me free parking & I got good deal on price.
