Fab hotel, amazing staff who looked after us

Cannot understand how this place gets a 4-star rating. 3 at very best. Apart from the Reception area the hotel is generally grubby throughout and the rooms lack basic amenities - NO fridge, NO Aircon. Upon arrival with prior online check-in we were told we had to wait until 3pm for check in. A silly control game the management apparently like to play with guests which ensures a bottle-neck of check-ins at 3. The room allocated was pokey and not ventilated and was too hot to take a nap after our journey down. We asked for a room that was habitable and were charged for a 'Upgrade' Aircon this time but sill no fridge. We decided to go downstairs and have a drink on the terrace bar. Techno music was blaring out onto the promenade, g'dump g'dump g'dump'..... we asked for it to be turned down but were advised to sit at the far end of the terrace away form the racket. [The barmaid advised us there had been many complaints but the DJ refuses to cooperate.] Next up came lyrics you would expect to hear in a sleazy Bangkok bar. 'I'm horny, horny, horny....' Not what you would find acceptable even in Brighton in the afternoon. We were charge £200 for a room that wasn't worth half of that. To top it all off there was a rowdy hen party of young women staggering around drinking from open bottles of white wine. We were not warned and the security staff made no attempt to control them. The only decent thing about this hotel were the Reception staff and lobby barmaid who were very pleasant and polite.

Great location right on the sea front. Nice breakfast. Great bar. Average service

Dated and not well equipped rooms. No power by bed. Bathroom shabby and needed updating. Dirty towels. At £200+ a night, would expect more.

Seafront location is great

Rooms had a dirty carpets, bathroom toilet was licking, there was a staffy odour in the room .
