The front desk went above and beyond to help me with my Expedia reservation.

I had read a pile of reviews that made the service here sound abysmal at best, but unfortunately I had already booked the room with no refunds. Upon checking in, I realized that I had arrived a day early. I was already prepared for trouble, when the lovely and congenial Chamelle Thomas proved that I shouldn’t listen to reviews. She took over from the first second and told me not to worry about anything. Not only did she find my reservation that was not put in correctly by the third party, but she got me an additional night in the same room so I wouldn't have to wake up early and move, for half of what I would have thought and cheaper than the internet market quote. Everytime I had a hiccup, she was there with an instant solution that required nothing but trust on my part. The staff at this Hotel proves the old adage that leaders create little versions of themselves, because every person including the housekeepers and doorman treated me with same helpful, welcoming attitude. Heck during the rain the concierge went and got me her own umbrella without me having to ask. The hotel was wonderful, but the real treasure here is the staff of the Avenue Plaza, they could make the Airline Hotel feel like it's a five star. Can't wait to stay again Cpt. Eddie-Joe Young

Outstanding service and location

$50. 86 per night parking and there are no other options. The website says parking on site but , what they fail to mention is its only valet and the fee is 50$ per night Then instead of trying to help us find parking closer Kelly (who kindly informed me she's the guest service supervisor) had every book, paper and reason why they needed the 50$ per night but no paper showing where a person (with a disability placard) could park safely. Kelly was more willing to help me check out ( and charge me the cancelation fees) than to see what she could do to help us park.. even walking away from me and going in the back. We're only an hour in and this place has already got our family vacation off to a miserable start... we still have 4 days left. Oh and the room.. there's more room in a circle k bathroom stall than our entire bathroom. Our room looks like the janitors closet with panels everywhere 😵‍💫😵‍💫 I think we got this room because I was upset about the fees .. that's how they handle it here tho 🤷‍♀️ annnmdddd we're looking at people in their apartments ... I was taking pics of the view and dude posed for a picture they are so close Update.. been here 5 hours and it's only got worse I could've stayed at the local pay by the hour motel and been better off.

No means no. If one doesn’t understand that, get another job. I don’t want a used car sales pitch. If I wanted to lose all my money and have nothing to show but bills, I would at least go to a casino. I just wanted it to be a hotel, no sales pitches etc etc etc etc.

Taylor Swift weekend was super expensive.

The hotel is in serious need of updating. Great for the 1950s. Everything is very tired looking. The CONSTANT effort to sell time share units in spite of being told NO many times, was just so annoying.

Rooms were fine but limited. Microwave and cooktop but not even a mixing bowl. Neighborhood iffy in one direction due to large homeless encampment. On the edge of the Garden District rather than solidly in it. Concierge pressed us a bit to do a timeshare talk, which we did not want to do. Pressure eased after a day or so. Streetcar right outside door. Parking was very pricey and took a while to get our car when needed. While the stay was ok, it could have been improved by a little more service such as a towel exchange and more than a single roll of toilet paper. Those little things add up.

A great place to stay in the Lower Garden District. Very convenient to the St. Charles Avenue streetcar line so easy to get to the French Quarter. Staff are friendly and helpful. Nice courtyard area. Note: laundry services are available but not in the individual units.
