"Amazing staying at the pension"

10.0

Our staying at the pension was amazing. The owner when we arrived offered us green tea and rice wine that he makes. He also offered to bring us by car at the entrance of the tea field and asked what we wanted for dinner. He cooked for us a very good soup with noodles, we spoke a lot and had a pleasant dinner. I really recommend this place if you want to find Korean traditions and a place where you can rest.

"Be careful"

4.0

Owner and manager were both very kind and gracious hosts. We were invited to dinner with another foreign guest couple (who didn't show for the meal). The owner was previously a chef and prepared a traditional Korean meal. After dinner the owner toured us through the on-site wine cellar. Note that dinner is not part of the room rate. The owner had offered the meal to the other guests (who didn't show) and we were simply asked to join.

The property and rooms are dated and worn down. The guest rooms are spartan with virtually no ammenities, bed is classic Korean firm mattress (uncomfortable), kitchen is not stocked for use, and the bathroom is a traditional tiled room with toilet (no lid), shower head, and floor drain. The room smelled musty and needed a thorough cleaning. We believe the nightly rate paid was excessive for the quality, comfort, and overall experience for the room.

"Great place to stay!"

10.0

Such a warm and friendly welcome from the hosts. This is a great place to stay, the chalets are clean and comfortable. The location is good for places to visit, ten minutes from the beach and plenty of fish restaurants. Our host,a professional chef, made us delicious authentic Korean food while we were there. I would highly recommend a stay here. The location is beautiful and peaceful.

Nothing,this is a lovely place 😊

"We would stay here again! Wonderful location and an amazing host."

8.0

The location is stunning. We enjoyed eating dinner and watching the sunset from the outdoor picnic tables. The property is on a hill overlooking a beautiful valley. Also loved all the flowers/landscaping around Golmangtae Pension. Our host was so kind - he drove us to visit the tea fields himself. He offered us complementary green tea and homemade wine. He took time to visit with us one evening and even made us a delicious croissant with matcha ice cream. He shared that being a chef is his passion and that he would love to teach anyone how to make authentic Korean foods. He was genuinely disappointed that we were not able to stay for a meal at Golmangtae Pension due to our travel schedule. Amazing hospitality!

Our room was clean but had a stale smell when we arrived. I think maybe it hadn't been used recently. Once we aired out the room, it was great!

"Peaceful stay with an incredibly kind and welcoming host!"

10.0

The property is incredibly beautiful, unique, and peaceful. The owner dedicates a lot of time and effort in keeping the property clean and full of plants and flowers. He is an amazing person with many stories and things to share. We were served delicious wine that he makes himself and he even cooked a traditional Korean meal (Kimchi stew) for us. As a foreigner, I was eager to try traditional Korean cuisine but a little nervous and unaware on how and where to order it. I shared this with our host, and he was very excited and eager to share his food, tea, and wine with us. On top of amazing food, as a long-time resident of Boseong, the host has a deep appreciation and knowledge of the area and is willing to arrange activities, tours, and sights that are unbeknownst to the average tourist. I hope to return back here in the fall- it was an amazing experience and the perfect location! Thank you!!!!

"Very good"

8.0

This is a beautiful place, the setting is gorgeous among the hills of the tea area. Mr. Shin has lovingly tended the grounds, with more hydrangeas than I’ve ever seen. We enjoyed morning walks among the trails of flowers and down among the rice fields, exploring the maze, and playing in the hammocks (especially our 10 and 12 year-old kids). The rooms are modest – spacious and comfortable with a basic kitchen and a few dishes. Breakfast was delicious beebimbap, and as a special treat (recognizing our children are tired of traveling with us), Mr. Shin noticed that as we were talking and gave them a croissant with scoop of ice cream. We had a lovely discussion and Mr. Shin shared with us his desire that his place be a place of healing for all. What we found most healing was the beautiful flowers and the discussion with a thoughtful host. Thank you for a lovely time.

"Camping facility at luxury hotel prices"

4.0

Sorry, but EUR 170 per night for 4pax is not appropriate

This is one of the few facilities that BOOKING.COM offers in this area, so I guess they decided to charge a mint for what is essentially a motel-camping like facility. The room was acceptably spacious, but as soon as you check here and there cleanliness lacks, and in general quality was below par for the price. The following night we drove about 1 hour to another hotel and we had a 100m2 suite with two bathrooms for about 25% less, so price is the issue. If you offer camping, you should charge camping prices. There was one bed and Korean-style bedding for the rest of the group. It was not clear from the promotional pictures. More than critique, a piece of advice: we had a bit of a panic when we realized that check in is only from 14:00 to 17:00. We had no issue checking in at 20:00, but it was our mistake not to contact the property in advance.

"Exceptional"

The area is beautiful and calm, and the host is incredibly kind. He made me breakfast and asked what my favourite korean dish is so he could cook it for dinner. The room was also clean and comfortable. I will definitely come back to this place in the future when I visit Korea again. I highly recommend this place for solo travelers if you want to see the peaceful countryside in Korea. I am so grateful to have met these kind people.

"Chance to experience a slice of Korean country life"

8.0

Staying at the Pension is a chance to experience a slice of Korean country life, with generous hosts and a lovely location. The views and extensive gardens make it a destination in itself, but you can also arrange to eat breakfast and dinner with the hosts to get a taste of real Korean food. Much of what you are served is grown and prepared on the property. If you don't have a car, it is an ₩11,000 taxi ride from Boseong Station. There is also a local bus that makes getting to the main tea plantations and Yulpo Beach an easy task provided you have a T-Money card. (Don't remember if they take cash payments.)

It was a bit tight getting around the bed to access the bathroom, but other than that we had no complaints.
