Ocean Coast Hotel at the Beach Amelia Island

I booked this room 2 months ago. Earlier in the day, I had checked in via a link around 5pm. When we arrived at the property, we were told there were no available rooms because their system glitched. The staff tried their best to find another location, but none of their sister companies had vacancy. Ultimately we had to drive 3 hours back home at 11pm.

The poor guy at the front desk was slammed when we got there at 4pm to check in. We got to our room and realized we had no towels so we decided to go get dinner and would get towels from the desk on our way back in. When we got back around 8pm he was still slammed at the front desk with no help in sight. We went to Walmart and bought our own towels and washcloths. When we drove back by after Walmart there was still a line in the front. A staff is only as good as the management that leads and supports. It was evident he was unsupported by leadership. We were not the only room without towels.

Check in took almost a hour. Was assigned a room that someone was already occupying. After trying to see if 3 other rooms were available we finally found one. Once entering the room we saw a roach by the kitchen sink, Alive. We went for dinner and when we got back our keys for the room did not work. The front desk guy said he accidentally assigned someone else to the room and they must have used the card. He had to give us new cards. Thankfully our belongings were still there.

We didn’t stay. The room was dirty and run down.

The property had a $10 parking fee, which I was on knowledgeable about the gentleman at the front desk when we checked and waved the parking fee, but the manager at the front desk today charge me for my parking and she won’t return my money. How can you waive a fee and then turn around and charge it that’s what it’s got me irritated.
