Maroma, A Belmond Hotel, Riviera Maya

I travel quite a bit, but this was my first time experiencing Mexico—and especially my first taste of ultra-luxury. To say my expectations were surpassed is a massive understatement. From minute one, Sabrina and Francine took exceptional care of us. These ladies aren’t just great at their job—they genuinely seemed invested in making sure we had the best trip possible: Check-in, excursions, room service, everything. I asked about buying the hats and sleep poncho from our room, and next thing I knew, they showed up as gifts. Talk about unexpected generosity! And when my roommate Jorge realized he’d forgotten his pants (classic!), Sabrina and Francine didn’t miss a beat—they arranged to ship them back to Mexico City for us. Seriously impressive. If you love snorkeling, don't miss the boat trip. Crystal-clear water, excellent guides, and it felt meaningful to see the coral restoration happening up close. The hotel nailed the small details that made a huge difference. Personalized notes in English for me and Spanish for Jorge, baseball caps embroidered with our initials—thoughtful touches that turn a good trip into an unforgettable one. Stephan (the General Manager) and his entire team deserve huge credit. This isn’t just a 5-star experience; it’s a 10-star memory. I'm already thinking about coming back—and next time, I'll double-check that Jorge packs everything!

An exceptional four-day escape. From the moment I arrived, everything exceeded expectations — the stunning facilities, impeccable service from attentive, gracious staff and an elegantly appointed room that was spacious, beautifully designed, and outfitted with every imaginable comfort. Meals on-site were exceptional, and the entire experience felt effortless, indulgent, and world-class in every way. A perfect blend of relaxation and sophistication that redefines luxury — I can’t wait to return.

What an amazing experience! The Belmond Maroma Beach was simply outstanding. The grounds were amazing and the service outstanding. We stayed in suite 60, which had an amazing waterfront view and was literally just steps from the beach. Special thanks to our host Francine who was attentive and provided outstanding service during our stay. Also many thanks to Elaina at the Spa for providing a truly excellent massage.

We spent five nights at the Maroma Belmond, and couldn’t fault the experience at all. The team are all super friendly and ‘no’ does not form part of their vocabulary. Food quality is great, cleaning is very good and facilities overall are pristine. Special call out to the hosts, Sabrina, Carlos, Esmeralda, and the Spa team Elena and Juan Carlos. From the moment we arrived at the Belmond Hotel, we were treated like VIPs. The warmth and professionalism of the staff made every moment—from check-in to check-out—feel truly special. We originally planned to stay just a few nights before moving to another hotel for a friend's wedding. However, the contrast in service was so stark that we chose to return to the Belmond, even though our second reservation was non-refundable. That's how impactful the experience was. Every staff member—from the front desk hosts and bellboys to security, bartenders, servers, and housekeeping—delivered exceptional service. The attention to detail was evident everywhere: in the design, culinary offerings, and thoughtful guest gifts. Special thanks to JJ the bellman, Xiamara at the Ceviche Bar, and Gibram, our beach server. There were at least half a dozen other incredible staff members whose names escape me (my apologies—I'm just not great with names), but every interaction was outstanding. The Belmond truly stands apart. We can’t wait to return.

Wonderful couples getaway! Service and amenities are over the top. Sucha relaxing experience and no need to leave the resort!

We recently returned from 8 glorious days at Maroma by Belmond on the Riviera Maya about 30 minutes south of Cancun. This resort was the perfect getaway for us from the beautiful beach, the room, the food, to the AMAZING people at the hotel - every experience was positive! We've been to the resort a few times now and each time is better than the time before. We cannot wait to return!

I think this hotel is somewhat overrated. And not particularly good value for money for what it has to offer. My daughter and I spent four days there recently. We had pre-booked an excursion to Coba and a cenote swim. Our so-called experience curator at the hotel had not prepared us for the lengthy drive to Coba (2 hours - we spent a total of about 5 hours in the car), did not coordinate our cenote swim with the outsourced travel guide and so we missed our lunch reservation. The cenote was a sort of theme park, very commercial and not the unique idea that was being marketed by the experience curator at the hotel. Otherwise it’s a good hotel but be aware that it’s squeezed in on the beach next to other less luxurious establishments.
