Kyoisuke

We were warmly welcomed by lovely staff at Kyoisuke and enjoyed a traditional matcha tea ceremony. The property is exceptionally clean and well maintained. We loved the experience of staying in a 100 year old traditional Japanese home. We were a group of five and stayed in the Hokomachi property. My husband and I slept in two beds (not futons) low to the floor in one room and our three adult children slept on roll out futons in the adjoining room. All beds were located up a narrow staircase. Seating for meals is on tatami mats with zaisu chairs. Perhaps be mindful of this if you have anyone in your group with mobility issues. We would definitely recommend a stay at Kyoisuke.

There was nothing not to like.

An amazing experience in a traditional Japanese house . The staff were lovely and even came late at night to fix the hot water after we accidentally turned it off . We were greeted with a tea ceremony . The house is quite low which can be challenging for taller people but that adds to the charm. The whole was immaculate and warm with toiletries supplied and an amazing indoor and outdoor bath. The shower was hot and very strong water flow. It was a great experience

Experience was exceptional! The host is very friendly and accommodating.

The hosts were extremely attentive and gave us each a tour of the property even though some of us arrived at different times. The property was artfully renovated, with the outdoor baths being a wonderful feature. Communication before and after our stay was very good, and we felt well looked after.

It's a very intimate house – guests should be aware that in the Hokomachi, there aren't real walls between the upstairs bedrooms (just sliding doors), and the downstairs is really more suited to being a living room, and sound travels between them. We were all very close friends so we didn't mind, but could be an issue for some.

We loved the traditional kyoto style house, the matcha tea ceremony, and the traditional japanese bath robes. The staff were so so nice and accommodating and the place was extremely clean. We plan on coming back next year!

Prime location 5-10 mins from ANY line that takes anywhere - 30-40 mins no matter where in Kyoto. Staff is AMAZING! All is clean and the service is spot on, also knew english very well. Always had answers and helped with luggage transportation. The house itself old but with modern interior with old vibes - amazing. Have washing machine which was very useful.

No complaints.

It was wonderful to stay in a traditional style house to get that extra immersion into the culture. The location was magnificent. A short walk to Nishiki Market and surrounded by excellent shops and restaurants. The place was so quiet and secluded down a private alley. Everyone loved the two soaking tubs. The hospitality was top notch. We loved the tea ceremony when we arrived.

Everything was perfect!
