Travelodge by Wyndham Sharon Springs

Traveled form California to Nebraska and by far the friendliest staff making sure I have everything needed. Room was clean and perfect size for one traveler.

It was very convenient to have a 24/7 diner on on site. The bed could use a new mattress since we both rolled to the middle, but was still adequate for a 1 night stay. staff were all very friendly. Room was clean.

It’s the only motel for miles that seemed clean

Only one blanket for two beds - not made because of "covid"? No coffee cups. No restock for second day. Staff was friendly. Bug difference bewtween cooks at on-site resataurant. 1st day breakfast 5-star. 2nd day seemed like it was bithersome to put order together. Quantity and prep lacking.

Looked as though bathroom was never cleaned from previous customer. Body hairs in tub on toilet, even embedded in wash cloth.... gross! Security latch broken, light bulb over vanity did not work. Fridge and microwave filthy. Was so put off by rooms condition did not even consider eating at the diner.

The staff was rude. After I went in for check in, (inside the dinner) the person on the desk, asked for my name and then went to the hotel with a room key, without telling me anything. After 5/10 minutes she came back and said the room they cleaned for me, someone is in there already. Than they went away for finding a room for me, another 10 minutes wait!!! And then they allotted me a room. When we went into the room, the room was not cleaned properly, the towels were not clean, there were dust and bugs, we walked out of the room immediately and checked out. And all these was near mid night.

This is not a well maintained motel. The first thing that I noticed was that the carpet was not very clean. When I opened the refrigerator I saw 3 dead roaches, right below the door. I saw a couple more roaches later, when they came out to see what they could find. I killed one, but the other made it back under the refrigerator. The roaches didn't move very fast. I assume that the room had been sprayed and that that was the reason that they were slowed down and the others were dead. When I told them about my experience when I left they said that they thought they were beetles and that the appropriate person would be notified. I hope so! The desk chair was nice several years ago. The upholstery was worn through in several places and the padding was even exposed in a couple of places. This motel is the only one on this area that I could find, and I had already paid in advance, otherwise I would have kept moving on. The diner next to it looked inviting, but since it was operated by the same people I did not eat there.

Strange and filthy are the two words I would use to describe our stay at the Travelodge in Sharon Springs, KS. There is not anyone managing the facility on site. How is that okay or even legal? You check in and check out at the diner next door, yet a diner employee stated that the motel and diner are not "connected." The place looks deserted and dark. It doesn't feel safe. It's like something from a creepy movie. The room toilet had black mold streaming down the bowl and at the water line. I wish I could attach a picture here. The shower had soap scum in the corners. The bed only had a fitted sheet and a top sheet, but no comforter or bedspread. There was a blanket up on a shelf, but we chose to use a blanket we always keep in our car instead, not knowing if theirs was clean. In this age of Covid where hotels should be ultra clean, this motel was clearly not, so I chose to wipe everything down with Clorox wipes. Had we not been so exhausted from driving for many hours, we would have driven elsewhere and found something else. The positives: The bed was comfortable and the shower had great water pressure. The meal at the diner was good. The conclusion: stay ANYWHERE else!

Grossly dirty. Dark. Room full of flies with dirty carpet. No blankets on the beds. One bed was on the floor. Worst hotel out of hundreds I’ve stayed in. Check in was at a filthy diner.

The stay was nice. An older hotel but comfortable. Easy check in and friendly service, 24 hr diner! Nice to know there was a comfortable place available.
