Hotel Haus am See Self Check-in

I was late arriving but was left very clear check in instructions. My single room was perfect for me with a nice shower and sink, only needing to share the toilet with one other room so no problem. The view from the balcony was breathtaking. Possibly my only gripe was that breakfast was a little on the pricey side at €18 and there was a parking charge of €12 per day. Having said that I’ve rarely had breakfast on a more beautiful terrace right on the lake so I guess you are paying for that really. Contrary to some other reviews I found the man on the desk to be very helpful and nice. All in all a fantastic stay in a perfect location

Great solo trip to Obertraun. Property is located on the lake with a beautiful view & private pier to swim from. Comfortable bedroom and very relaxed, quiet atmosphere. Good breakfast available with lovely views over the lake. Close to bus stop for a day trip to Hallstatt. Friendly check in/out. Would recommend for anyone visiting the area looking for a relaxing break from the city.

Excellent for a short stay in Obertraun! Easy access to Hallstatt, but I did prefer just spending time in Obertraun around the lake. Beautiful view of the lake from my balcony. Property is advertised, clean and comfortable. Friendly check in and overall a great stay.

Our room was perfect and cleaned daily. We had a Mountain View which was beautiful. I loved how close this was to the lake and really enjoyed seecafe next door. I also used the laundry facilities nearby at the Hotel Dormio which was nice. Check in and out was easy with the lock box. The only downside was the staff was not very helpful with providing knowledge on the area. They were kind enough but whenever asked very basic questions about attractions or transportation they told us we had to look it up.

Absolutely would recommend this hotel to anyone, very clean, great views and franstantic breakfast

The staff was very nice! The breakfast was excellent and the view outside on the lakeside was very beautiful! A little issue getting the check in instructions but that may of been an issue with Expedia. Overall, what an absolutely beautiful view of the lake and mountains right at the lakes edge!

Everything went smoothly. I got the code for self check-in via comms through Expedia. Seamless. The room was clean, it was walkable to the lake and to the restaurants and train station. Room was on the smaller side, but I have stayed in smaller rooms in other countries. The man at the front desk was friendly and stored our bags. He was gracious when I accidentally took the key with me to Hallstadt after checking out. I was able to return it to him in the afternoon when I returned to pick up the bags. The only snafu was the breakfast. We had 9 a.m. salt mine tix and thought we had to et but the lady at the restaurant told us that we had to catch the bus and there was no taci service in Obertraun. We thought we had to run, but realized we would not make the bus. I called a taxi company that is in the next village over and made arrangements to get picked up 45 minutes later. While I was calling the taxi, the woman at the Restaurant told my daughter she could not eat in a way that my daughter felt was a bit unpleasant. I was able to straighten it out and my daughter ate a light breakfast. The full breakfast is what I expected at a small pension. The woman was pleasant in the afternoon. Since I wasn‘t there I am not sure what had been said, but my mother was Austrian, so I think I may not have taken offense if I had been there. I would stay at Haus am See again.

At first I was skeptical because of reviews but, honestly this place was great! It was in a great location for families. A park next to it that had a play ground for the kids and water to go swimming with a trampoline in the water. Also the park had a rock climbing wall for kids. You could easily take a boat to Hallstatt, the dock was right next to it. We also ate at the pizzeria which was walking distance. Overall, the hotel was clean the breakfast was good. No complaints from us. You do have to call when you arrive, which was no problem for us. We stayed in the “attic” and we were able to fit our 2 kids and us without a problem. All in all I would recommend.

Beautiful property, views were great. Room was clean. There was a park right next door for our kids to play and a boat dock to ride the boat to Hallstatt. They had parking for are car. And a great breakfast in the morning!
