Amazing place

Excellent.

Beautiful building and grounds. Front of house were all very friendly and helpful. The host of the Farmer Butcher Chef stood out to us, he stopped and asked us about our day, went out of his way to help us. The Kennels was a lovely place to take a walk to, sit with drinks and chat in the sun, the staff were very attentive.

There are areas that could do with freshening up. On arrival at our room there were dog beds and plates with food from previous guests in the hall, after spending an afternoon in the bar and grill we returned to our rooms, the dog beds had gone but the plates were still there, we went to reception to ask for them to be removed. As beautiful and authentic as the hotel is a lot of the sofas and chairs could benefit from a reupholster, they were not comfy to sit and relax and spend time with our friends which was the point of our stay. Some of the waiting staff were a little lax. When placing plates on the table they were placed on cutlery knocking drinks etc, not taking orders correctly. Placing drink orders in the Bar and Grill, told they would be brought over, after 10 minutes saw the staff were serving customers at the bar, I went over to ask about our drinks, they had clearly forgotten, apologised and quickly made the drinks. Disappointing

Beautiful location and so quiet. Lovely room with a really comfy bed! Lovey friendly staff and great facilities. Lovely clean pool and steam room.

The prices of drink and food were extremely expensive- £21 for a glass of Malbec is a bit much. I appreciate the cost of living crisis and inflation- but that’s crazy!!
