One night stay, room was perfect, staff friendly, food was lovely. Will definitely stay again.

Hotel was lovely, staff were so helpful and nice. Breakfast was very nice. Pool was great! They allowed children till later. Family friendly. My child said 10/10

I travel frequently for business and usually stay on the Quayside when in Newcastle, but opted to try the Marriott Gateshead due to its location and past reputation. Unfortunately, the stay was disappointing. The room was uncomfortably hot and the air conditioning was ineffective, despite raising this with reception. Housekeeping was well below standard — towels were stained (one even smelt of food), toiletries weren’t replenished over five nights despite requests, and used glasses weren’t cleaned. On one day, I even stepped on a small pebble that had somehow ended up in the room — I always remove my shoes, so can only assume it came in with housekeeping. The bathroom was dated and in need of a deep clean, with visible mould. The TV repeatedly turned itself off, and the remote control had no battery cover — just a piece of tape holding it together. I was also surprised to be asked whether I wanted daily cleaning, which felt like a cost-saving measure rather than a service option. I said yes, but the standard remained poor throughout. As a long-standing business traveller, I expect better from a Marriott-branded hotel. I won’t be returning, but hope this feedback helps improve the experience for others.

The hotel was really good and was really clean. The room size was spacious to freely roam. The staff at the reception were so informative and helpful with any queries I had.

Room was REALLY hot and Air Con unfortunately didn’t do much. We’ll still be back though as Food and Leisure facilities good

I stayed here on business recently for 2 nights. I normally stay in Gateshead but it was busy, and this one looked a good alternative. Nice comfy rooms, excellent leisure club facilities. All in all a great stay. Highly recommended

This is Generally a really good hotel and I usually stay once a month or more for business My recent trip wasn’t great - the toilet in the room was dirty and unflushed from the previous guest/user. The shower was half cleaned - the flooring in the cubicle had a grainy orange film that I had to wash off before using (it was dried residue) Terrible nights lack of sleep as there was a real loud humming all night, the external wall was vibrating with this I went down to the reception in the evening - no one present When checking out, no one present on reception I felt very disappointed as I usually have a lovely stay and find this to be one of the better hotels in the North East of England
