Quality Inn - Storm Lake

We had a bit of a hic-up when we checked in because we were requesting an additional room for our adult kids who suddenly joined us. The grumpy night clerk wasn’t very friendly, BUT the owner/manager popped in and was WONDERFUL And made our check-in smooth and seamless. The rooms were clean, cozy and clean bedding, clean bathrooms and all around fresh smelling. Nice breakfast, free parking. Neat town with a lot of diverse people. Will stay there again!

Run down place had broken lamps, roof peeling in bathroom, flys in room, AC kicked off and on all night. Won’t stay again!

The breakfast was cold, eggs runny, biscuits hard, had no plates to put food on

The place needs a lot of work. The room seemed ok and clean. It smells like cigarette smoke in the hallway and at one point I could smell it in my room. The outside doors are not locked. I won't stay here again

I called the day prior to our arrival to ensure we could check in early as we had other family nearby that were camping and wanting to head to the water park early. They assured me I could check in early. I showed up only an hour early (at 2pm) and I walked through the door and couldn't find anyone! I called the number listed and the phone rang and rang. I walked through staff areas shouting for someone. When I came back around, he was sitting at the desk like he didn't hear me. Then he told me I couldn't check in because the room wasn't ready. I told him I called yesterday and they said I could. He didn't even say sorry and just repeated that the room wasn't ready. So we went around back and waited in the parking lot. The back of the building is gross and a little ghetto. Honestly, I felt a little unsafe back there. When our 45 minute wait was up, we drove back around to the front. As we passed the side we noticed a burnt, little, white picnic table and a very small grill - assuming that's for either customers or staff cookouts? Our room was ready and we went in. It actually smelled and looked clean. Our bed was fairly comfortable and everything seemed to work. In the bathroom, the actual switch to turn the fan/vent on were missing out of the light switch, but that was fine. Our lights above the beds were practically falling off the wall, but that was fine. At 9:15am the next morning housekeeping wanted to come in. We were still in there!

Hotel is in need of a lot of renovation and cleaning. Beds were somewhat comfortable. Luckily we got a good rate on the room otherwise I’d be more disappointed.

Pictures look very nice, but the hotel is very old. Needs to have many basic repairs.

All "security" doors needing a key to get into the hotel were unlocked at all hours of the day. Electric sockets were either broken or hanging, chipped paint, trim boards hanging, smelled like smoking throughout the hallways. Asked for towels at the front desk because nobody would answer the phones. We were told they would be brought up to us. Towels NEVER arrived.
