La Samanna, A Belmond Hotel, St Martin

The staff could not have been nicer or more helpful

If I can say there is a Heaven on earth, this is definitely the place! Starting from the General Manager Eleonore, she greeted us with an upgraded room with presents in it as a surprise! She also checked in on us daily to ask if we needed anything. As for the rest of the staff, Emmanuel, Rosie, Mili, Naima, Alessandro, and others i have forgotten their names, so sorry, they made our stay so joyous and definitely we will come back again soon. Thank God for people and places like this!

Like all Belmond hotels, their signature is welcoming, gracious, engaging personnel from check-in to check-out. La Samanna was no exception and the Caribbean charm of the staff added an extra dimension. We stayed 3 nights at La Samanna before taking a cruise and found the hotel lovely, its facilities excellent, cuisine outstanding and ambience very relaxing. Without fail, every engagement with the resort staff was a truly positive experience - Victor and Sabrina prior to arrival; Claude at check-in; Rosie and Eddy at D'Oursin; Pierre at the lobby bar; Amy, Mili, francois and Neomie at breakfast; Axel, Nico, Matthieu, Alexandre, Rommel, Herbert, Michele, Monique, Elika and Stephanie at Le Plaj. Thank you to all.

With a panorama view of the Caribbean from my room, how can that be surpassed? Staff is very attentive to just about anything a guest could require. Excursions can be booked with the concierge if you want to explore the island. Otherwise the resort has a nice selection of restaurants including one with a Michelin star chef; 2 pools and beach paraphernalia. Quiet and low key.

Our suite D11 was fabulous with an amazing terrace overlooking the beach and ocean. We would have liked the shutters closed at night to stop the sun coming into the rooms in the morning but this was not done despite our request. The beach is breathtaking and we enjoyed jet skis on the ocean. The dry brown grass is a shame and takes away from the overall charm of the resort. The restaurant L’oursin, despite many claims of a 2 star Michelin chef, was very underwhelming with odd choices in our opinion. However the view from the terrace was spectacular and Alessandro charming and knowledgeable about the wine. We would have liked to try the Italian restaurant but it was closed for dinner on both nights that we were there …

Spent part of our honeymoon here and had the absolute best time. The room was nice, the grounds are beautiful, the beach is gorgeous, the service was unbeatable, and the staff couldn’t have been kinder or more helpful. We also loved the heated pool. Will absolutely be back again!

La Samanna is perfection. From the beautiful beach to the landscaped gardens and nothing is too much trouble for its friendly but extremely efficient staff.

our stay at La Samanna was one of our best vacations ever....from the minute we arrived we were treated like royalty. We were greeted so warmly by Emanuel at reception who gave us all the details of the resort as well as an escort and guided tour of our room. Lunch at the Beach Bar was delicious while we waited for our room to be ready- dinner that night at the hotel too at L'Oursin which was incredible with outstanding service. The concierge had arranged our other dinners in advance off the property and they were very good. We took taxis to go to those. The resort is very quiet which we loved and very secluded. We felt like we were on a private island. The beach and ocean were gorgeous just steps away from our room. The service on the beach was fantastic from day 1- our waiter Nico made sure our chairs were set up with fresh towels every day and he and the other servers Matthias and Jimmy were so friendly and attentive- we were always taken care of. We only used the pool once -very nice Breakfast every day in the hotel was so worth it- fresh fruit, eggs, crispy bacon, salmon, the most delicious french pastries and the best coffee I've ever had. The views from anywhere you sat-gorgeous. The property is very hilly so be prepared to walk up and down hills -but they will send a golf cart for you if it's too much. The only complaint I had was the size of the room-although a very pretty and tasteful room there was not much room for luggage or place to put clothes-we will be back!!

Rooms are very small with limited storage space for luggage

Paid almost $1,000 a night, room size is terribly small, some furniture items are damaged/broken, there's not even a chair or a desk to do some work, the room they gave us is next to an aisle across from the restaurant so there's a lot of traffic, I was shocked to see this kind of room for a Belmond property, The Hilton/Marriott probably has much more nicer room size. The beach and restaurant are ok, but the room quality, forget about it, I feel that Ive been ripped off
