"Family vacation with tweens"

Perfect location right on the beach. Did have good options near the pier (walking distance). We did uber into Destin for shopping and it seemed busier with more actvities such as water park, putt putt, lots of beach shops. The resort had activities during the day that seemed perfect for families with little ones. Atmosphere was what we needed for a family with tweens. Beautiful beach, nice pools close to beach, commons area to chill at and a food truck. The biggest con was our room. We were in the older sunset side that hasn’t be renovated. Has a room a/c unit that was load. Biggest down fall was if on back porch area it was also loud and blew warm air from the unit. The door to go outside were load was loud so hard to go outside for morning coffee without waking up whole room. Bathrooms were VERY small. Overall had a great vacation!!

"Not worth the cost"

My 3 biggest complaints: -The A/C did not work well and cut off multiple times. -There was never parking near our building, so we had to park in the parking garage at the other end of the resort. When it was storming there was no covered areas to get to our building/room. -This is supposed to be a smoke free facility, but the consistent smell of marijuana was unbearable at times (within the building). For the cost to stay at the island resort I expected more!

"Run down dirty and disgusting brown stained mattresses."

False advertisement at its finest. The place is falling apart and disgusting. From the lobby restroom being hot, smelly and napkin dispenser falling off to the hallways having trash and smells like water damage. Rooms mattress had brown stains all over and was visible , pullover mattress cover doesn’t even fit stained mattress that is clearly overdue for a change bc the bed has permanent sunken in areas , dust buildup all over bed frames and underneath and attached to the curtains as well. Floor and surfaces still had debris over them. The online images do not match the reality of this location in person. Immediately demanded a cancellation and full refund for the false advertisement and pricing not meeting online promises and expectations. Save your money and hassle. It gives a cheap motel vibe if I’m being honest. Amenities online seemed very neat but the places overall upkeep is non existent.

"Very bad experience"

Location is very good

There’s dirty towels , one was look like have shit on it? The other one has two spots looks like some old coffee mark . The sink faucet can’t shut properly, been dripping all night. Very annoying noise . And none of staff want to take any responsibility for the mistake that they make. When I booked the room, I did put three adults and included breakfast . So when I checked in with front desk I told him about it, he said he will take care of it. But next day we went to eat breakfast, there’s two different staff come check with me in two different times, and ridiculously want all my information . The way they talk sounds like I am cheating. I back to the front desk checking with them again. Now they told me I need got a coupon for third person. I got the coupon back to dinner, give it to them. Later on there’s manager coming out to apologize. But still insist what happened was just because I booked the room through the third party caused the problem. I don’t understand if you have a problem with third party booking so many times before why still happen. When you have a question about how people should have breakfast, why you just ask me say : my room only shows two people can have it. , so I know the problem will be. Instead that, just ask some information I don’t think a dinner should know. And on the top of all that, both front desk manager and dinner manager all blame this third party booking cause the problem. Why they can’t just simply apologize. I been booked hotel with booking for years and all over the world. This is the first time I wrote that much to complain . I am not that kind picky person. Hope this will be only one time

"Do Not Recommend"

Location: The Island is at an amazing location centered in the middle of all the major attractions (Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park, The Boardwalk Okaloosa Island, Wild Willy's Adventure Park, Crab Island Adventure Park, Harbor walk village, etc.)

6/25/2026- Do not recommend The Hotel/Resort: Didn't have or provide the quality of service, appearance, or atmosphere as described online or in it's images. Images and website make it appear more new, modern, fresh, and very clean but it wasn't at all what we expected. Also, the parking area sucks!!!!! The room had it's flaws (peeled wall paper, water damage in the bathroom, floors not as clean as I would hope after just checking in, limited cable TV options, hard bath towels, the elevator got stuck a couple of times during our stay, ocassional power outages that lead to sleeping in a hot room) Amenities: Gym was in a while entire different building/area. Pools were good and I did like how they provided different pools versus just one. The pool closed at 11 pm but the beach towels hut closed at 6 pm (which doesn't make sense) so if you stay here bring enough towels for the pool area and beach. Checking out: Checking out was stressful because we didn't know they charged for parking.... (on their property.... that we had a parking pass for). They also charged me for gratuity for breakfast (event though we left cash tips). We got breakfast included with our stay, meaning we wouldn't be charged for the buffet option. They did not tell us gratuity will automatically be charged to our room (even though we left a cash tip). Overall, my family and I enjoyed our trip due the wonderful attractions that was around us; however, we won't be staying at The Island Resort again. Not worth the price we paid. There are other options with a beach front view and in a great location. I recommend you check those out before booking at the Island.

"Watch out for faulty smoke/vape sensors that detect spray-on sunscreen, hair products, etc. instead."

We had a wonderful time with family, and a family wedding, but upon checking out we were hit with a $250 smoking fee from a silent sensor in the room. We do not smoke or vape. We did use hair spray, curling irons, and spray on sunscreen. There was no recourse, no discussion, they would not listen to us because there is a silent sensor behind the beds that “detected” vaping or smoking, basically calling us liars. No way to check for faulty sensors, no benefit of the doubt. What a scam. No way we will Come back.

"Rude staff. No ac during the night"

The location was great, the pool and a magician show (pirate) was great for kids

There was a problem with energy shortage during the night and the staff didn’t explain and they weren’t there because they were doling outside. And the didn’t want to explain anything and they respond in a rude manner.
