⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5) We had a wonderful stay at The Island Hotel in Fort Walton Beach! One of the highlights of our trip was definitely the entertainment. It really added to the overall experience and made our evenings so enjoyable. The ocean view is absolutely beautiful and worth every moment spent soaking it in. The staff was amazing and friendly, welcoming, and always helpful. The hotel itself was very clean, and the bartenders deserve a special mention for their great drinks and warm personalities. The only downside for us was the beach chair policy. Considering the amount we spent and the resort fees, it was disappointing to have to pay extra each day for beach chairs, especially since we didn’t use the pool amenities. It was also frustrating that bringing our own chairs didn’t allow us to set up near the front, even if we arrived early we actually would have to set up off property which seemed ridiculous to be in the front by the ocean. Overall, we truly enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back. That said, it would be great if the hotel considered offering complimentary beach chair and umbrella vouchers as part of the resort feeit would make a big difference in the overall value and guest experience.

The pool with the swim up bar was too cold to swim in. It would have been a 10 if that pool was heated or at least not frigid. We went in May and were able to go in the Ocean and the heated pool but we’re looking forward to the waterfall pool with swim up bar.

The location was great, the beach was nice they have chairs you can rent, but the resort does not offer chairs for those who have a room. The pool is also really good, wasn’t super crowded, very clean.

You have to pay for onsite parking as well as everything else. Absolutely nothing is included in your stay. No breakfast, comp water, only ice. When we checked into our room it’s was filthy, looks like it wasn’t cleaned. The beds had dirt marks all over them, marijuana all over the floor, cigar pieces all over the floor, sugar & powdery substances all over the counter. We couldn’t come back to our room for about 2 hours until it was recleaned. Check in was at 4pm we couldn’t check in any earlier, then had to wait until about 6pm until we were able to actually get into a clean room.

Love the location, easy access to shops and restaurants in Fort Walton and Destin area. Great access to beach. The hotel room was clean and loved the access to the outside patio. It was nice to sit outside your room and see a fireworks show.

If I had one issue it would be the parking, trying to find a parking at night when getting back to hotel after a day out was not the best. The parking would be full and was not monitored for parking passes on cars and others would park in the parking lot for beach access that were not hotel guests. My suggestion is to have parking lot attendant to make sure only hotel guests park in the hotel parking lot or maybe offer valet parking to make it easier on guests.

Im glad I didn't go off the reviews. I had a great time at this resort. All staff were very friendly. Room was clean and beds were comfortable.

Five night stay. This hotel was recommended by Chapter 7 of the Special Forces Association for the Association's annual reunion. Website displayed nice accommodations; but that was not our experience. Other reunion attendees who stayed here shared similar experiences. Room: Tiny bathroom (enough for one at a time), no shower grab bar (safety), roaches; Noise: loud air conditioning unit and pool/patio music and shouting; box spring creaked with every movement. Low marks for value: expensive accommodation for a "basic" room and food service. Won't be returning here. We would have sought other accommodations, but wife and I are elderly and fatigued from our journey; repacking and relocation was just too much of a problem.
