Fingal - A Luxury Floating Hotel

We were treated like royalty from the moment we arrived until we left , never had such service in any hotel . I would wholeheartedly recommend the Fingal for a short stay

Amazing place! Service, food, cleanliness & kindness was top notch! From the minute you walk in you are transformed to another world. The turn down service, the amenities in your room, the food at dinner and bfast, wow! What a magical place!

The property is of course, unique by design. There is no actual lobby, only the bar/restaurant on the 3rd floor. The service is excellent, the employees very cheerful and helpful. The deluxe cabin was adequate. The room had everything you need--mini-fridge, good shower, etc. There is no shelf space in the bathroom, so we had to keep our toiletry bag nearby. The location is a bit out of the way--not a great amount of choice of restaurants within walking distance. The hotel does offer a ticket to the Britannia, and that was a well appreciated perk!

An amazing experience recommended for that special occasion. Hotel is super high quality. Dinner and Breakfast were exceptional. The only negative was a particularly noisy table on Saturday night for dinner but they left after a while and it was a much more pleasant experience!

Stayed 1 evening in April 2025 in the Mull of Galloway room. Excellent service from the restaurant staff, very attentive and looked after us for the full evening. However... The shower drainage didnt work properly so the whole bathroom floor flooded. Because the room is sloped, the water seeped through the wall and got onto the carpet next to the bed and my bag got drenched. Luckily it was mainly clothes that got wet but that wasnt a great start. When we raised this with reception, we were basically told 'well, its a boat, that will happen.' We were glad we only stayed one evening otherwise we would have kicked up more of a fuss. We got lucky that it was a beautful evening and had drinks outside before going inside for the meal. There is a lot of glass so it was like a greenhouse and very uncomfortable. Here in Scotland there isnt a huge need for AC, but it was far too hot and nothing could be done to cool the restaurant down which again took away from the experience somewhat. Just FYI the portion sizes are miniscule. I know that's the style of the hotel... but I was disappointed considering what it cost. It's hard to fully appreciate the quality of food when there's hardly any of it. Overall the experience was a mixed bag. We know others who had a completely different experience but we wont be rushing back based on ours.

Great unique place to stay with a friendly and helpful staff

5 out of 5 for a first class service from all staff we met. Everyone went out of their way to be helpful and to make the experience personalised and welcoming. We dined in the Fingal restaurant where the food was absolutely excellent. The chef Andrea, was a credit to Fingal and I will return at some point for the dining experience alone. Overall, a 5 star service for a 5 star establishment. Well done Fingal!

If you are looking for a high end experience with foodie dining, impeccable service and a luxurious room, you have found your place. 5 minute walk from Britannia, you could stay on the ship and never leave. If they added a spa experience I probably wouldn't. This is the type of hotel where they put chocolates on your pillow. I've already recommended it to others in the country to at least check out the dining. Wonderful experience.

A unique experience! Great location, rooms were bright, clean and modern. Restaurant food was top notch. On the whole, staff were pretty good but at times we were left waiting in the restaurant for too long and there didnt seem to be any structure to how things were managed (people who were sat after us were attended to before we were, for example). But in the scheme of things this was a minor irritant on what was a truly lovely experience overall. The history of the ship is also pretty amazing!
