Fingal - A Luxury Floating Hotel

This is a very unique and upmarket hotel experience .. once onboard the boat you are in a 5 star nautically themed hotel .. the rooms are named after lighthouses , and the restaurant and bar carry that theme through .. Frankly , if it was good enough for the Queen , I think it’s good enough for us , or you .. Everything has an elegance and charm, and situated in the heart of Leith , footsteps from the Royal Yacht Britannia , it’s a great location to explore Edinburgh should you wish ..Highly recommended ..

My friends and I had afternoon tea on Fingal. It was beautiful. The staff were lovely, so accommodating and kind. The food was yummy and the selection of teas were really interesting. I would definitely recommend this experience. It was also very interesting to see the rest of the boat.

The hotel is superb, romantic and quiet. Beds and pillows are very comfortable. Our room on two levels was pleasantly quirky, quiet and spacious. The onboard restaurant offers high quality refined food and ample drinks options and is probably the best restaurant we tried in the whole of Edinburgh. Further to the above, the excellence and kindness of the personnel and their ability to help with all the requests we had while showing elegant mannerism and refined conversational skills rendered our stay and whole experience memorable and possibly one of the best in our holiday around the UK. Definitely recommended to those searching sophistication and elegance away from the crowds.

Our second stay at the Fingal and it won’t be our last. Great atmosphere, staff attentive and friendly. Accommodation clean,well maintained and quirky, completely suits its nautical environment. Restaurant excellent for both evening meals and breakfast.

This was a unique sleeping and eating experience combined! The rooms were absolutely stunning, and the fact that you were sleeping on a large ship with such wonderful history, made it a unique experience. I highly recommend this to anybody traveling to Edinburgh.

An exceptional hotel adding to a great day on board Britannia

Fantastic stay option for 2 nights. 100m from the Port of Leith Tram Stop made access easy for airport and Edinburgh station (Haymarket option for Glasgow trains). Walking distance to Ocean terminal and the RY Brittania (complimentary entry for Fingal guests - had a nice afternoon cream tea on RYB). Port of Leith is much quieter than main city areas and has a lot of eating options and interesting walks (located adjacent to upmarket waterfront apartment areas with most amenities). Easy access to Edinburgh for tourist things - St Andrew Square tram stop right opposite hop on/off buses. The ship itself is a fantastic experience with excellent breakfasts. Dinner a bit pricier but worth at least one 'special' night (otherwise lot of alternate options nearby). Really enjoyed the last 2 nights of our 3 week British isles trip staying here.

We booked a one-night stay on The Fingal to try something unique during our 2-week vacation in Scotland. It did not disappoint… in fact, it exceeded our expectations! The room was large and extremely comfortable. The bathroom and shower were great too. The only negative was that half of the room was on a slight decline but it wasn’t an issue for us. The food at dinner and breakfast was phenomenal and the staff went above and beyond to make sure every need of ours was met. Highly recommend this amazing experience!

A hotel like no other, a boutique on a boat where the rooms are unique & feel luxurious. The food at both dinner & breakfast was excellent and the staff friendly & helpful. There are so many choices in Edinburgh and we’ve stayed in a number of them, but if you are looking for something different which for sure you will remember, definitely worth a try
