Our 2 night stay in Matsumoto was truly memorable, thanks to Kaneda and his wonderful team. From the moment we arrived, they went out of their way to make us feel welcome and well taken care of. Their warmth and attentiveness really stood out and made us feel right at home. The location is great, being right next to a supermarket and with plenty of food options nearby. We especially appreciated the complimentary shuttle to and from Matsumoto Station for check-in and check-out, which was a big help with our luggage. During our stay, we also used their transport services (at an additional charge), which made getting around even more convenient. CASTANA is nestled in a quiet, peaceful area with beautiful views of the Northern Japanese Alps. The room was comfortable, well-equipped, and functional. We also enjoyed spending time in the café area; it was a great space to relax, with tools and appliances to make your own drinks (as well as a proper kitchen, if you'd like to cook!). Having two toilets (and one shower) was also a big plus for us. Overall, our stay was easily one of the highlights of our entire trip. Kaneda and his team were always quick to answer any questions and happy to offer help. Their hospitality left a lasting impression--you can tell they care about their guests and their attention to detail made our stay feel special. Would absolutely recommend this place to anyone visiting Matsumoto!!

Nice and warm hospitality

This was my first time visiting Japan, and I chose Matsumoto as my travel destination. I must say, choosing Cafe & Stay Castana as my accommodation in Matsumoto was the best decision I made. The room was very clean and tidy. The dining area is beautifully designed, and you can enjoy a coffee while taking in the lovely scenery outside! Most importantly, the host was incredibly nice and friendly. We had a flat tire while traveling around Matsumoto. When Kaneda-san heard about our issue, he kindly offered to drive me to the car rental shop and even helped translate the problem to the staff there. Thanks to Kaneda-san’s help, we were able to get a new rental car without any trouble! I will definitely book Cafe & Stay Castana again if I have the fortune to visit Matsumoto in the future!

A charming place for a good break before going on the run after.

-Good location, short drive to centre of city and conveniently close to a large supermarket -Very clean and tidy -AC worked well in the room and fridge and microwave were handy

-Staff English is poor (relevant as accommodation marketed to overseas visitors) -No door on bathroom area...while shower box has a door and curtain, it would be better to have a door so, people using the sink etc did not disturb those in the main room...and had privacy. -Pillows are hard -Cafe is closed on Tuesdays thru Thursdays...bit weird and meant no coffee -Parking was poor....at the front near the road and on a big slope.
