DORSET ARMS HOTEL

Want great value, comfortable facilities and incredible staff? Look no further. Stan is an awesome host and even got out of bed to collect me from the metro station at 2300 because my flight had been delayed. Made to feel right at home and just a nice place to be. The dining room is a bit 'eclectic' but it just added to it for me and I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in the area.

Stan is a lovely man, very welcoming and great host. Breakfast was superb!! Room was spotless with very good powerful shower. Will definitely return.

Maybe upgrading the mattress in the twin room would give top marks for comfort. But it was fine for two nights.

Wir haben uns für das Hotel in der Lage ausgesucht, da wir mehr oder weniger nur auf der Durchreise waren. Hauptziel war das Beamish Museum sowie eine kleine Stadttour durch Newcastle. In die Stadt selbst sind wir mit dem Bus gefahren. Die Haltestelle ist ca. 5 min Fußmarsch entfernt und die Busse fahren zum Hayetmarket in kurzer Taktung. Wer Abends ein Bier trinken will, hat 15 min zu Fuß zum nächsten Pub. Wie jedes Hotel lebt es von den Leuten, die es betreiben. Stan (ich hoffe, wir haben den Namen richtig verstanden) hat das Hotel echt gut "gerockt". Unser Englisch ist nicht so gut, aber er hat uns alles einfach und verständlich erklärt und so manche Geschichte erzählt. Das Frühstück hat er individuell für jeden zubereitet.

An dem Hotel und dem Aufenthalt haben wir nichts zu "meckern". Jedoch noch zwei kleine Hinweise zu Newcastle. Wir haben den Tyne-Tunnel genutzt. Es gibt keine Mautstation o.ä.. Man muss bis Mitternacht online bezahlen. Geht zwar einfach - aber wer es übersieht, zahlt mal schnell 100 Pfund Strafe. Bei deutschen Kennzeichen tut sich das System darüber hinaus schwer. Samstag ist in Newcastle absolute Party. Wer Malle-Feeling liebt, ist hier richtig (dann macht auch der Bus noch mehr Sinn 😉). Wer aber die Stadt sich anschauen und was Essen will, sollte den Samstag meiden oder auf Außenbezirke ausweichen.

The owner is a top bloke and takes great pride in his establishment. Area considering it was in an housing estate was very quiet. Super clean and a great fresh breakfast was on offer.

Unfortunately my room had the boiler in it, I'm a light sleeper which doesn't help. The WiFi upload wasn't working, download was fine, I needed the upload speed.
