What a spot! Right on the beach, away from the noisy & busy parts of town. Gorgeous sunrise views & delicious food.

Restaurant served absolutely delicious food & drinks, but we found that a little pricey. Hotel is quite remotely situated and travelling to/from the hotel without owning a car proves to be a little tricky and expensive (taxis cost a lot in Mexico!).

Staff were very attentive and friendly. Grounds and pool were immaculate. Beach side lounge chairs, towels, and umbrellas were great. Having kayaks and paddle boards freely available was a plus. The location was quiet and secluded. We asked about a coffee maker and by that evening one was delivered. Soap, shampoo etc were Spa quality and smelled lovely.

The food was good but not as good for the high prices. Several other restaurants are available down the road for better value. Beach is sandy, However, the ocean in this area is very rocky. There is a long dock so you can access deeper water more easily, but it is not very deep. Just to keep this in mind to adjust your expectations. Still beautiful! Room was very attractive however there was no practical seating.

Casa Altamar exceeded our expectations. Everyone made us feel welcome and like family. Arturo and literally everyone feels like friends. Our room was beautiful, the food was to die for, and the uncrowded beach was exactly what we were looking for. So thank you to everyone at Casa Altamar for being just the best.

What an amazing hotel with private beach and pool and bit outside of Tulum city. The staff was wonderful and they went above and beyond. The food on the hotel was also very good and the chef was up for making us food outside of the menu. I would for sure recommend this place for people who wants to visit to Tulum but don’t want to live in the busy, party area.

We loved our time in this charming little hotel. The staff were incredible: kind, attentive, and helpful. On our arrival day we were delayed until very late and they had delicious sandwiches waiting for us in the room since everything was closed. Food was consistently yummy—loved the smoothies, fish empanadas, and margaritas. This is a quiet place to relax—it’s 20ish minutes to town. We had a rental car so this was perfect. But you could certainly come here and stay put and just forget about the world, too. Would love to return!

The only negative was this weird loud howling sound that would kick up on windy nights from our balcony door. It was loud enough to prevent sleep, but an easy fix—we kept the door open and shut the screen and instead feel asleep to the sounds of beach waves.

Beautiful setting in a safe and quiet area just north of Tulum. Small, boutique waterfront hotel with fabulous amenities like a private pool, its own wooden pier providing easier entry to ocean, ample beach chairs and umbrellas and hammocks on soft, white sand beach, with some kayaks, paddle boards, life jackets and water shoes for guest use without additional fee. Very comfortable beds in tidy, simply furnished, air-conditioned rooms with nicely laid out bathrooms. Delicious meals and beverages. Most of all, a lovely and attentive staff who are always willing to go the extra mile to make your stay as special as possible.

Nothing. Would happily return and recommend to anyone.
