Leonardo Royal Hotel Brighton Waterfront

The location was good and the waiting staff were pleasant.

Too many expenses spared. To mis-quote Douglas Adams, every expense was spared to give the impression that no expense was spared. The bed was a nightmare and I would have been no better off sleeping on the floor. The bathroom was showing sighs of dilapidation and the flannels provided were pound shop quality As for the menu, I guess it is no worse than the last time, except for the butter, which was vile and was more like Echo marge from the 1980s. The result was that my partner could not eat her, very expensive, breakfast!

The room was lovely. Great view looking out to sea. Breakfast was fabulous too.

On arrival I checked in and was told room was available earlier than expected. However when I went to the room it was most definitely not ready as the bed had clearly been slept in, there were dirty towels in the bathroom, toilet unflushed etc. I revisited reception and was allocated another room - but other than a slightly dismissive apology at the time, I had to wait till I checked out before I received a sincere apology. Disappointing.

The hotel was very clean, and the staff were excellent and a good selection at breakfast. For us the location was perfect.

They didn’t explain at check in that we needed to agree an amount on our credit card to charge extras to. Other hotels we’ve stayed in just charge any extras without a pre agreed amount. Having said this it wasn’t a major problem.

Room was nice and clean, friendly staff, water provided, nice shampoo/soaps/hand creams, good facilities, great location just nexto to the lanes and the beach!

The car park even with the discount was a bit pricy. The coffee machine was releasing some particles in the water when we tried to make it work without capsule. Minor things :)
