Mercure Haydock Hotel

It was close to the venue we were visiting. The staff were lovely and friendly.

It was dated and the bathroom could have done with a deeper clean. The carpet hadn’t been hoovered well.

The bar staff were very unprofessional and a little abrupt no please or thank you am big on morals

Excellent service at the bar from Kylie and also when she brought the food out to the table. She was professional and polite and thank you Kylie.

Stayed here on a business trip and was shocked by the state of my room. The bathroom had hair all over the bath and shower, dried soap suds on the shower walls – it clearly hadn’t been cleaned. I called reception who said they’d get back to me. They never did. Eventually a member of staff arrived with a key to another room. When I asked her to come and see the state of the original room, she screwed her face up and said “no thanks.” No apology from anyone at any point, and no follow-up to check I was happy with the replacement – which was only marginally better. 2-3 star rooms at best. The one saving grace was the restaurant – the food and restaurant staff there were genuinely good. The rooms do not reflect the smart reception area, so don’t be fooled. The way this was handled was appalling, and I’ve already reported back to my company. So this time I’m on my business trip and we’ve booked the Holiday Inn round the corner.
