"Good"

6.0

I'll start with the positives and I think the two biggest winners has to be the quality and design of the exterior as well as the cove. There's no doubt that there is a very luxurious feel when walking around or lounging and I really felt like I was on a high quality vacation. This for me is where the luxury ends however. Coco Reef seems to market themself as a luxury experience and definitely uses the price tag of one. I don't think however that there was a luxurious level to the service, room amenities, or even the services such as Wifi. I will say my room had a lovely view even though I booked the garden suite however I had little to no Wifi connectivity - my laptop even refused to connect due to the weak signal. I also had a very slow check in process. The first employee didn't seem to hold much knowledge of what would be available to me and then the second asked me to sit and wait 10 minutes to be escorted to my room. A wait that lasted about 25 minutes. I think the absolute worst part of the service to me was that there was a clear favour to the European guests who stayed there. At one point, I was the only person of colour lounging on the beach when one of the waiters passed around and took drink orders for all other Caucasian guests and ignored me. He passed by again to drop off their drinks and still ignored me. At this point I walked over to the bar myself to order the drink and on his third walk around then asked me if I was done with the glass.

"Exceeded our expectations"

8.0

We thoroughly enjoyed our weeks stay at Coco Reef. It exceeded our expectations in many ways. The setting is the biggest selling factor - lovely location, perfect white sand beach with lovely lagoon that is like a private aquarium. So peaceful and relaxing. No need to fight for sunbeds! The hotel is just the right size, no hoards of people you can find your own space but also small enough that you can meet and chat with people at lunch/dinner in the bar if you choose. Our room was clean, comfortable and had a great ocean view. Yes it is dated but it had everything we needed and the a/c works a treat. Food wise again we were pleasantly surprised - breakfast always good, lunch at the beach bar not an extensive menu but the salads were lovely and fresh especially the seared tuna salad. Service can be slow but the drinks keep coming! Dinner mostly a la carte in the restaurant we didn't have a bad meal all week, steaks and fish were good and cooked just right (my husband is VERY fussy re steak likes it rare and it was!). wine was o.k for all inclusive and cocktails were good. Buffet night was not great but we are not a fan of buffets - Beach BBQ food again ok but a nice evening with a great singer. Staff over all are friendly and helpful ,special mention to Simon who works so hard in the bars and restaurant and nothing is too much trouble. The reception staff were a bit hit and miss with information . The minus points for us are the bathrooms - which are very dated, the shower heads are so small barely a trickle of water and 2 nights we had no water! Appreciate water pressure is poor on the island but the hotel needs to upgrade the showers urgently. The fridge is not stocked and again I feel it should be daily for all inclusive guests - yes you can ask for water, beer and take to room but it would be nice to have the fridge replenished. We rarely go back to a hotel but we would go back to Tobago and Coco Reef - IF they sort the showers out!!

"A hidden gem in the Caribbean!"

10.0

We are currently staying at Coco Reef for the second time after having such an amazing time last March. An idyllic setting 10 minutes from the airport set in its own beautiful bay which is lovely to swim in. There is nothing better than watching the sun set with a rum punch in your hand and seeing the flying fish skimming through the water. The staff are amazing, the food is lovely…and you’re in the Caribbean! What more could you possibly want?! We will definitely return. Thank you to all!

"Coco Reef Resort and Spa, an amazing Tobago hotel"

10.0

This is our second visit to Coco reef resort and spa. It’s an amazing hotel, with an old-world charm in a beautiful location, you couldn’t ask for better! The hotel has beautiful, manicured gardens, its own private beach as well as a swimming pool. The hotel is very close to the airport, approximately 10 minutes away, an easy walk or a short taxi ride. It is positioned close to several bars and restaurants, Store Bay, Swallow beach as well as Pigeon point. For dining we recommend the Brown Cow, a small restaurant which serves excellent food, or D Wok Spot which serves Chinese food or the Jade monkey and casino it you want a livelier evening, there are many eating places, depending on your taste and budget. The room we stayed in was spacious, clean and perfect for our needs, the a/c kept the room super cool, and the TV had a wide range of channel. We tuned into Netflix and Prime as we have a UK account, outside of this there were many channels available as standard. The staff were great always willing to help, nothing was too much trouble. On a minor downside the atmosphere in the hotel is lacking, with limited entertainment in the evenings, even just background music of some kind. The room had a kettle, but this wasn’t located next to an electrical outlet. Overall, though the hotel, location, staff, breakfast was amazing, so we will be visiting again, probably next year!

"Would not recommend"

4.0

We have just returned from coco reef, we found the hotel very dated, the rooms are in need of total refurbs, the bathrooms are shockingly bad, would say thet are at least 30 years old, mold on the shower curtain, rust on shower curtain pole, and broken floor tiles, the extractor fan was so loud you couldn’t hear the tv, even tho you can only watch 2 channels as the rest have interference. the rooms are very noisy at night with people slaming doors, and early in the morning with doors slamming and the maids shouting and talking outside your door, the main restaurant the food was good but they had the same menu for 2 weeks with a very slight change, food in the beach bar was the same menu for the whole 2 weeks, and having to wait up to 1 hour for you food to come out, and totally forgotten on 1 occasion even tho it wasn’t busy, you are not able to decafe coffee anywhere, they seem to run out of beach towels, even tho the hotel wasn’t busy. The pool is in a sorry state, there were a few members of staff that we found really good Nigel in the beach bar Simon restaurant and bar Xavvi restaurant and bar Beverly restaurant and bar Junette restaurant and bar We found these members of staff excellent and very friendly, shame we couldn’t sat that about all the staff

"Coco Reef - A great base for a wonderful island!"

10.0

We were very impressed with Coco Reef Resort & Spa and would highly recommend it as a base for Tobago. The island itself was fantastic on many counts, but especially for it's stunning natural beauty and wildlife. The hotel is close to the airport and we were welcomed by Adrian, the Manager, with a warm smile and rum cocktail. As we like to get out and about, we chose the Bed and Breakfast option. There was a wide range of options for the breakfast buffet. We ate in the hotel restaurant on a couple of nights and the food was of a high quality. There are good alternative restaurant options walking towards Pigeon Point. We particularly liked the Pasta Gallery and the Tobago Paradise Grill. We took a number of guided trips out and very much recommend Phill Williams of Trinbago Tropical Tours and Excursions, who gave us wonderful trips to Little Tobago and the waterfalls, whilst providing a great understanding of the history, culture and nature of the island. We also had a fantastic day with Kelton, "The Birdman" in the tropical rain forest. The beach in front of the hotel is clean and the snorkelling by the man made reef was excellent.

"Good"

6.0

This resort had its “glory days” - the staff is extremely polite and attentive but the rooms while recently cosmetically refurbished need a total overhaul. The old wicker furniture/ and Grandmas bedsheets from the 1980s make it hard to feel comfortable. The beach is beautiful and the beach amenities leave nothing to be desired. Television reception was poor- haven’t watched TV with static reception since I was a kid-making almost everything unwatchable. Breakfast selection was good- but not great. It’s better than Magdalena that’s for sure in terms of upkeep!

Coco reef is a great vacation facility ,we arrived at 10:30 and were allowed to leave our bags at reception whilst waiting on check in time. Breakfast is great with panoramic views . Evening meals were not to our taste so we ate out every night .
