Bougainvillea Barbados

Our first visit to Barbados and it didn’t disappoint! Hotel was situated right on the beautiful beach which was lovely to walk along each day. Hotel was clean, tidy and had lovely staff, to name a few of the best were Troy, Lisbeth, Joshua and Vivian. Restaurant was lovely and served great fresh food, evening entertainment was good and rooms very spacious, even the studio we had. Reception happy to book taxis which we used and were very good, didn’t try the buses but they came recommended by other guests. Only downsides (and they are small) were no coffee/tea in rooms and 2 nights when we had torrential downpours and didn’t want to venture out no room service available due to weather although you could order and and collect yourself. Had a great time and would go again.

We stayed here for 3 days prior to catching our cruise. The hotel is lovely and the beach and location amazing. We ate at two restaurants in st Lawrence gap, tabu and primo and both were excellent. The downside to the hotel is that some of the staff at down right miserable to the point that they ruin your stay. One particular receptionist Roslin is the most rude, obnoxious person I have had the misfortune to encounter on holiday. It is for this sole reason that I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Both my parents are nearly 80 and she was vile to both of them for no reason. This continued while checking in and out and also when changing money or trying to order a taxi and the bell boys to get the luggage. If this hotel wants to thrive then they should rethink their front reception staff. I would like to applaud the staff in the restaurant who were all fantastic. Especially Elsbeth, what a credit to the hotel. The pregnant lady on reception was also amazing.

Hi went to this beautiful beautiful hotel, for my daughter 30th birthday, beautiful room spacious and clean, staff at front desk roslyn was very helpful, booking cabs and changing currency, lisbeth in the restaurant thank for making my daughter feeling special at the last minute you was extremely busy and you made it happen. One suggestion the hotel is not all inclusive so drinks are not included maybe you should allow guest to buy a drinks package, but would definitely go back love love love. it Jackie Baker

We had a great stay for our honeymoon. The room was beautiful and staff extremely helpful and friendly. Special shout out to Troy in security who was always checking in when he saw to make sure we were ok.

Beautiful location on beach and beach staff very helpful. Very nice restaurants in St Lawrence Gap, but getting there is a taxi ride about £25 round trip. Disappointing- quality of buffet breakfast - hot food buffet was minimal/very limited in choice as were fruit and bread selection. Hotel needs to review policy of putting out jars of butter and preserves and then guests delve into the jar. Most unhygienic! Cleaning of rooms also hit and miss. Mine often wasn’t cleaned until the end of the day when I was wanting to change& by which time I think housekeeping staff had lost energy. Pool could be cleaner! Rooms and hotel are tired looking. Not sure this lives up to is 4star rating.

Lovely hotel: Had the wow factor as soon as the taxi pulled up. Reception staff were lovely. Check in was swift with a much appreciated rum punch on arrival. Bell boy helped with our cases to our room (215) Room was spacious. Large balcony with comfortable furniture and a sun lounger. Large comfortable bed with linen changed daily. Plenty of storage space. Good sized bathroom with towels changed daily. Handy kitchen area with hob, fridge, freezer kettle etc. housekeeping did a fabulous job daily. Room was always cleaned well. Restaurant onsite (Calabash) is literally on the beach. Good selection at breakfast with eggs cooked to order (the omelettes were fab!) lunchtime and evening meals were cooked to a very good standard. We loved everything we ate there. There were 2 or 3 friendly cats that appreciated any scraps. If you don’t like them you ignore them (they don’t pester you) we loved them and snuck them some treats quite often! The pools are lovely and well kept. The swim up bar was well stocked. The Bajan Blue cocktail was to die for! The beach is literally on your doorstep. Not always safe to swim in directly outside the hotel but just along the beach (near Sandals) there was always a yellow flag - so ok for swimming. The only thing we felt was missing was a couple of bars close by with easy access. Want to finish with a massive shout out to to Lizbeth and Cindy in Calabash and night time security man Troy. Thankyou ladies for being so warm and friendly. You are both a credit to Bougainvillea and thankyou Troy for taking time to stay and chat xx

We spent 9 nights at this hotel and can honestly say we have no complaints. The biggest assets of this hotel is, as others have stated, the staff. Every day we encountered smiling and helpful people from the front end to the onsite restaurant. They seem to take great pride in their jobs. Our room was perfect, slightly, and I stress, slightly, dated but more than we had hoped for. we would recommend a stay here and should we return to Barbados, will definitely plan a visit to Bouganvillea again! Wow, wow, wow! Perfect boutique hotel right on the beach. All staff were utterly amazing genuinely friendly warm people (not so much on reception, sorry). Junior suite was outstanding (20 paces to the beach and my absolute favorite white company toiletries) we wanted for nothing! Food was fresh and plentiful. We hired a car and travelled all around the island and knew we had picked the right place to stay on our first trip to Barbados, we will be back 100%.
