Lighthouse Lodge & Cottages

We stayed here in the cottage section two years ago and found it nice enough to come back again this year. The cottage section which has larger rooms and includes a hot breakfast buffet. After viewing the increased prices in the two year span, we chose to stay in the lodge section this time and had an upstairs king room which included a bagged breakfast of a small bottle of apple juice, a prepackaged muffin and a granola bar. The hot buffet could be purchased for $15/pp. This time our experience was not so good. The lodge walls are thin and we could hear the toddler in the next room constantly. The walk in shower's flow was a very weak drizzle. There was a lot of mold outside the shower where water either dripped under the door and/or leaked from the drain area. The railing on the balcony wobbled and had obvious dry rot. On the positive side, the bed was comfy and there was a desk and several chairs in the room. We had a tiny peek through the trees at the ocean in the distance and it was possible to walk about five minutes down to the oceanfront. We attempted to stream a movie on our laptop but the wi-fi strength was not strong enough and the movie stopped frequently so we gave up. Overall, we felt that for the charge of nearly $300 per night (Thurs. - Saturday) there are surely better-kept places to stay in the Pacific Grove area.

I was so looking forward to stay at a quaint and clean place in Pacific Grove, instead what we found was a Lodge in terrible need of repairs. There is a lot of erosion inside the room and outside. It's such a shame because the location is great, it's close to the beach, restaurants, and bars. There are holes on the wall, furniture was scraped, old and smelly, the beds are very uncomfortable, ripped curtains, lots of mildew and paint bubbling in the bathroom, and plenty of erosion on the outside. No screen on the fireplace, the walls are dirty, and the carpet smelled like dogs.They won't clean the room unless you stay 3 nights or longer and the wifi is almost non existent. The only thing that smelled clean was the sheets. Maybe the cottages across the street are renovated, but not the ones were we stayed at. I think they are way overprice for what they offer, even though I am not looking for a 5 star hotel, I do expect management to take some pride and take care of necessary repairs.

The location is wonderful. This once was a very nice property but has fallen into disarray.

Very difficult to book property. I was told after believing I had booked and paid for a reservation, that my room was no longer available. I had no success calling the property to book. I waited two days and booked the property with Bookings.com. When I arrived I was told I had two rooms booked. I received a reimbursement. The room was tired and shabby. The curtain only went half way down and left the room illuminated from lights outside at night. We used towels to block. No glasses in the room. Chipped paint and wood on the walls. Dry rot appears at edges of the doors. The windows were not operable in the room. Pillows were dingy and discolored. Overgrown weeds and broken fences appear around the property. Trash and leaves left around the property. This use to be a very nice hotel, but we will no longer return.

Husband and I went for a weekend birthday getaway and were hugely disappointed in Lighthouse Cottages. Outside looks painted and maintained but rooms are barren and shabby. Roman shades don’t work well and one was broken and at a diagonal. Cracked trays, Worst coffee. Scalding hot water that would burn you. It’s old, which is fine and normally even a plus for me, but very poorly maintained. And the $240. Per night room became over $400. per night once taxes, etc. were added! Management apologized when I complained but made no adjustments. Stay clear!!!

Overall, it was very nice. Great view, clean, great value. The one thing that wasn't up to par was the wifi connection. Even though it was free, it was useless because the actual internet speed was less than 1 mbps. Could not even get to a website. I needed to remote into work, and could not even do that because of the slowness of the wifi.

Our family stayed here last month with our two daughters and had such a great experience. The hotel itself was spotless, comfortable, and had a really warm, welcoming feel from the moment we arrived thanks to Diane. It’s clear the staff takes pride in keeping everything professional and well cared for. What really made our stay memorable was Lex. He went above and beyond to make us feel special and welcome. Traveling with little kids can sometimes be a lot, but he had such a genuine and friendly way about him that instantly put us at ease. Our children are still talking about how kind he was to them. That level of personal care and hospitality really stands out and made the whole experience feel special for our family. We travel often, and it’s people like Diane and Lex who make a place memorable. We can’t wait to stay here again!

This place was amazing for our family trip. The GM (Lex) on property was great, he went out of his way multiple times to ensure our kids were having a memorable trip- the staff was professional and friendly as well! We would recommend this place to anyone
