Dunraven Arms Hotel

Bring your thermals! We stayed in Dunraven Saturday to Sunday 11th/12th October - junior suite 116. We have visited many times over the years, weddings included, and the charm of Adare village itself is still intact. The hotel itself has some lovely qualities: service was friendly, helpful and professional in reception, the bar, the restaurant and the breakfast room. We had predinner drinks in the bar area, a mixed locals and guests gathering with food available (which looked nice to us!). No zero alcohol beer on tap (disappointing in 2025), but hey ho. Dinner in the Maigue dining room was lovely, good service, excellent food (limited mains choice - one meat, one fish, one veggie) - beetroot marinate salmon excellent for starters and the roast beef was good old fashioned roast on a trolley. Unusually, and delightfully, the beef ordered rare actually came rare (if a little pricy at €38 for one slice), and my wife's plaice was lovely. Gorgeous desserts, nice coffee and overall the price felt fine for what we ate. As we had a postdinner drink in the bar, it started to feel a little chilly, so we retired about 10.30 Our room was freezing. The heat across the entire hotel, I was informed by reception (well it was the night porter as reception was abandoned) is on a timer which switches off around 10pm. Really? I kid you not - the charming night porter brought a heater to our room, which at this stage was a brisk 17 degrees. The bathroom was cold, the hot towel rack was off so the wet towels were still wet next day. The heat came back around 6am - but inexplicably was timed to off again at 9.30am! We could feel the breakfast room cool down as we lingered over a coffee. I asked the receptionist to please turn the heat back on - and fair play to her they turned it on for our wing/floor so that we were able to work until 11.30 without wearing gloves. Overall we had a lovely time (though let's be clear: the charm of the village is to the village's credit, not the hotels) , but wondered what kind of hospitality company in this day and age scrimps on heating and in-room tea/coffee facilities (there weren't any). It's a really cheap approach for a not-very-cheap experience (our rate was €360,not cheap for a cold room). Shame.

Beautiful rooms with a sitting area and large bathroom. We were greeted with a plate of dainties and a welcome letter when we entered our room. Lots of parking and located across from a number of restaurants. Many of those were closed the day we were there so we ate dinner in the hotel. Food was good and service was very prompt. Breakfast the next morning was continental but includes the option to order from a hot breakfast menu.

A very nice hotel with great service. There wasn’t any heat when I was there but still very comfortable. Breakfast buffet was very good. I used Adare Taxi service to and from Shannon airport and they were excellent so I also used them for tours to Cliffs of Moher and the Dingle peninsula. Great tours!

Perfectly serviceable hotel -- nothing special -- but if you're in Adare and you don't want to spend a fortune on lodging, this hotel will do . Our room was clean and the bed was comfortable. We arrived in the late afternoon, cold and drenched from a day of touring in the wind and rain. When we tried to make dinner reservations at the hotel restaurant, we were told that no reservations were available and that the bar was closed to guests for a private event. Basically, there was nowhere to have a drink or eat in the entire hotel and when we asked for an umbrella (as we now had to find a pub or place to eat), we were told all the umbrellas were in use by other guests. Needless to say, the inability to accommodate us in any way (we were guests staying in the hotel afterall!), left a bad taste and I would not stay here again because of it. We made restaurant reservations for the following evening (make your restaurant reservations in advance), and this time, they were able to accommodate us. Again, I would not stay here again but if you're in Adare and need a clean room and a bed, this hotel will do.

Spacious, clean room. Friendly and helpful staff. Good location for walking around the City. Excellent breakfast.

Everything about this place is outstanding. At first glance, the hotel appears a bit dated, but once you have the full experience, it becomes part of the hotel's unique charm. The rooms are tastefully updated with a rich and modern design that preserves the hotel's historic charm. The staff are beyond helpful, friendly, professional, and attentive to detail. They greet you by your first name and they know what you need without you even needing to ask. The hotel manager and owner are also present and very engaged in the guest experience. It really shows that they care about providing top quality service, and they do. The dining experience I had was also excellent. I only had the breakfast, which was self-serve buffet style, but the waiters still didn't miss a beat. I had coffee within minutes and a clear table as soon as I was done. Very good options in terms of food, too. A good mix of healthy and traditional stuff. The chia pudding and plain greek yogurt with fruit were excellent. I highly recommend this hotel.
