Maryborough Hotel & Spa

The staff was fantastic! All of the front desk staff were cheerful even when the lobby was full. Fidelma was the absolute BEST! The breakfast was very good and they provided a nice variety of breakfast choices. The waitstaff was impeccable.

Beautiful hotel in great surroundings just a short walk to town centre. Wonderful staff (special mention to John the concierge) who are a credit to the hotel. Great spa facilities and a wonderful massage.

Just a personal preference but I do not like a shower over the bath.

The staff and manager at the hotel were fabulous. We wish every property had the high standards of this resort.

We had a lovely meal. It was served very efficiently and staff were sociable & friendly. It is a lovely hotel, with a relaxed atmosphere.

Room and dinner were both very nice. All staff were excellent. John front of ofice was excellent.

Breakfast could have been a bit better

Our stay in the Maryborough was exceptional in every way. The moment we entered the building to check in we knew that we were in a safe caring ,professional and friendly place. It exceeded our expectations in so many ways from the quality of the food, the comfort of the rooms and the relaxing thermal Spa and leisure centre. But what makes this hotel extra special is the staff. They are an exceptional team who work together to make sure that everyone staying with them has the best experience ever. From Ben and Ciarán in the dining room, who recommended lovely food and wine,( including amazing turbot steaks and divine ratatouille) to Yohannes in reception and Sheila in the treatment rooms they were all at the top of their game. But our hats go off to John ,the concierge in guest relations. What an addition to any place. For example, he called a taxi, escorted us down the steps, and when I remarked that I shouldn't have brought my jacket as the weather had improved, he said" Here give it to me and Ill put it back in your room for you!' Now , where would you get that? It is a family run hotel, not a chain, and this I think makes a big difference. The staff all seem very happy so I can only assume that they are well treated by the owner, Dan O' Sullivan. A real gem of a hotel looked after by a stunning team!

We thoroughly enjoyed a two night break. Lovely room, great staff, delicious food, attentive service. A hidden gem!

If you are reading this wondering if you should stay at the nearby Rochestown Park Hotel or here, I would say this hotel immediately. We had a much better time staying here. While Rochestown at its best is 3 star, Maryborough is more like 5 star with similar prices. Quite simply, this is probably the best or definitely one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. We arrived very tired on a Saturday evening at the hotel. From the beginning Johannes advised us of an upgrade to a suite because of my wife's birthday. He is everything what Irish service should be (though you rarely see it nowadays unfortunately) though he is German. He gave me a guided tour of the hotel and made sure everything was perfect. The rest of the staff were also excellent but Johannes was exceptional. Thank you for everything. On arriving in the Suite, we were met with a "Happy Birthday" message from the hotel, a plate of small cakes and 2 small bottles of wine. Simply amazing. The small touches matter and this shows that unlike many hotels in Ireland, the customer matters! The Suite itself is large, very comfortable and has an excellent shower facility. One thing I would recommend for anybody who is a light sleeper is to bring your eye mask as it can get bright early in the morning. The service and dinner itself at the bar was exceptional. To be honest, there is little or no difference between sitting in the bar or the restaurant. One has TV's on (no sound though) and the other has tablecloth. Breakfast was also exceptional. Probably the best breakfast I have anywhere in Ireland. The swimming area is excellent. I had a good swim and the sauna, jacuzzi and steam room are well maintained. The service was again excellent. I did not use the gym but it looks better than most hotel gyms. Lastly, the hotel itself is surrounded by a beautiful wood area. It is beautiful to have a small walk around. Altogether, I highly recommend this hotel to stay in if you are in the Douglas/Cork City areas.

Beautifully maintained property, lovely staff. The restaurant food was also amazing. The spa was a bonus for us!
