Sonder by Marriott Bonvoy East 5th Apartments East Austin

It is not easy to find the apartment, but the provided instructions were very detailed and helpful, so that I had no trouble with checking in. The room is spacious and cosy, the kitchen is fully equipped with a fridge, coffee machine, stove, microwave etc. Towels and toiletries are provided. I also had access to a gym in the ground floor. The surroundings are quite nice with two large supermarkets close-by, the Colorado River and the Capitol are within the walking distance.

I found the shower tap a bit inconvenient to use. The public transport connection to the airport is not very convenient.

Nothing. Signage was non existent , took me 30 minutes to even get in. And I hated the location.

We had a great kitchen and a dishwasher. We had a coffee machine and kettle. Irish people like their kettle. One receptionist was kind and lent us his umbrella and stored our luggage in his office as we were too early for check in. Shame he’s going to Russia:(

The shower was a bit aggressive.

Amazing location, great facilities and easy to get into! Bed was comfortable with lots of good pillows. Whole apartment was a great size.

Room could’ve been serviced in the four days we were there other than that it was great.

Previous guests left their trash and i called sonder, waited 20 minutes to be connected to a customer service representative, then i was told the manager was out of office. I told them to please come take out the trash (it was someone else’s!) + fix the sink that did not drain but no one came… it is impossible to reach to them for maintenance or if anything goes wrong. Would not stay here again.

It’s essentially units on the 4th floor of an apartment building with entrance from the parking garage. Excellent location if you like to explore Austin. Everything was neat, clean and spacious. The unit was comfortable, everything was like new and in working condition and even the toiletries provided were also of great quality. The in-unit washer dryer is also a blessing when traveling and even provided washing pods. Overall once check -in is done successfully, it’s a great experience and highly recommended.

Aside from the fact that the TV only allows casting and not any native apps like YouTube or Netflix, the issue that needs addressing is Check-in and out times are rigid unless paid for. We reached the property at 3PM for a 4PM check-in and the entry code wouldn’t work although the room was ready. Had to hunt down the staff to help us check-in and was finally enabled at 3:30 thanks to the lovely staff who were accommodating. But therein lies the problem, in the hospitality industry you need to be flexible as one cannot always ‘time’ entry to the exact time. +/- an hour tolerance should be provided especially with your check-in time being 4 PM which is unusually late compared to 2PM or 3PM check-ins which are the norm. Also checkout times are strict and we had cleaning staff knocking on our doors to leave at 10:55AM for a 11AM check out. You need to wait at least till 11:30 as a courtesy although we were ready by 11AM. What makes matters worse is there is not concept of a front desk. So if you arrive with luggage for a 4PM check in there is not even an option to leave your bags at a bell desk and step out to come back on time. We met a couple of folks on our way in and all of them expressed a similar ‘frustrating’ check in experience. If you can have a bell desk and staff at least from 10AM till 6PM at your location, everything else is excellent

The price and location are great. I’ve visited 4 times and the my one consistent criticism is that the pool and pool area are always filthy. Also the cleaning staff has entered my room before checkout on two occasions. The noise from the street in the e 5th side is a bit much Thursday through Saturday as well.
