Hotel Andes Urubamba by Ämak

We stayed here several days and enjoyed it. I think we were the only guests in the hotel for the 3 nights we were there. I suspect they fill up when a tour group arrives and we were independent travelers. We had breakfast every morning in a nice room with a great view. The service was great and we even had our laundry done by the hotel while we were there and it was very convenient and inexpensive. The two issues from our visit that kept us from leaving a 5-star review. 1.) We arived late in the morning from Ollantaytambo and we asked if they could keep our luggage until the 2:00 check-in time while we walked around the town. They told us it would be 60 Soles to hold the luggage until check-in, even though the hotel was essentially empty. We expressed our dissatisfaction with this charge since we had alreay reserved for 3 nights. After some back and forth they agreed to waive the 60 Soles charge and instead took us to our room which was obviously available. 2.) Just before checking out I gave the clerk a $20 (80 Soles) tip at the end. She had been very attentive and had waited on us at breakfasts and we thought the service was great. We asked her to call a Taxi for us to go to Cusco. She said that the Taxi would be 200 Soles and asked me to pay her in advance. I thought that was strange since I would prefer to pay a driver myself. I asked what amount of the 200 Soles would be taken by the hotel as a commision. She said the hotel would take “solo veinte Soles” (only 20 Soles, or about $5) When the Taxi arrived she wanted me to stay in the Taxi and take the Taxi driver inside to pay him. I insisted on going inside with them to be sure he was paid the 180 Soles. The normal Taxi fare was less than 100 Soles. She became nervous and mumbled something to the other employee at the desk about what to do. At that point she gave him the 200 Soles to avoid any conflict. The normal fare to Cusco is 100 Soles or less. Of course it was much more convenient to have the Taxi pick us up at the Hotel, but I could tell they were trying to make some extra money by calling the taxi. It felt wrong. All I wanted was honesty and this was within 10 minutes of giving her an 80 Soles tip. Live and learn. Now I will have to use a Taxi service myself to avoid this type of unpleasant experience. I try to be generous and appreciate good service. All I want is honesty and transparency and this experience disappointed me. This is a really nice hotel in a great location, and Urubamba is a really cool town. The hotel is clean and was overall very enjoyable. I just wish these two experiences had not left an unpleasant impression.

Graet location,near by city center & market.large & comftrubel room.regular breakfast with fruit & egg,all our reqest for chese & fruits was answer quickly.the front desk was very helpful (it's better to upgrade the english ).warm recomenned

Marcia and Frida went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed. The breakfast was amazing. The rooms on the 3rd floor were clean and warm, which was the first time in our 3 week stay in Peru that we didn’t feel cold at night. Prime location…walkable to the markets, plaza, and bus terminal. Simple great.

Absolute gem of a hotel! The staff were wonderful and couldn’t do enough to help you. The hotel is modern and the room was spacious and clean with a really modern and powerful shower. The breakfast on the top floor was one of the best we have had in Peru! White linen table cloths, fresh fruit, breads and eggs made upon request and served to you at your table- a million miles from the usual buffet service served by other hotels. Absolutely recommend, a short taxi from Urubamba, Moras and Moray- perfect base for Sacred Valley stay.

Foi íncrível o atendimento que recebemos. Enfrentamos um período de greve geral e a equipe do Hotel Andes nos apoiou o tempo todo, fornecendo informação e nos passando tranquilidade. O hotel fica em uma rua estreita mas muito bem localizado (2 quadras do mercado municipal, 4 quadras da praça principal e muito próximo a bons restaurantes). Ficamos em um quarto amplo com camas extremamente confortáveis. otimos travesseiros, lençóis brancos e perfumados. A cortina não é black out mas impede que a luminosidade da manhã entre. A TV em muitas opções de canais. A decoração do quarto é elegante e o banheiro é moderno. Conta com toalhas grandes e brancas. Possui kit de sabonete e shampoo. O chuveiro tem agua quente com pouca pressão mas nada que impressa um bom banho. O café da manhã tem salada de frutas, suco, paes, manteiga, frios e café. Adorei a hospedagem mas quero destacar o excelente atendimento. Me deixou segura e tranquila. Muito obrigada!! Realmente gostei da hospedagem e recomendo muito que se hospedem no Hotel Andes.

Great hotel very close to the church and city center convenient to many good restaurants. They offer laundry service for a minimal free and can arrange transportation for you in needed also. I would start here again if in Urubamba in the future.

Excellent service from all the staff, especially from Ivan. They ordered a taxi and dinner for me in 2 occasions and the expense was charged to my room. Hotel was renovated, clean, and the breakfast was very good.

I had a lovely stay here for 3 nights. Ivan and staff are most accommodating. Ivan gave lots of helpful information of what's available locally and other towns. The breakfast was tasty, fresh and filling, seating showed off the beautiful surrounding mountains. I highly recommend anyone staying here, the rooms are spotless and beds are very comfortable. Thanks again Ivan for providing such great service! 😊

Ivan was the most incredible hotel manager! He was so helpful to me, from the time I made my reservation until he helped to arrange my taxi to depart, he was there for any and every little thing! Really a nice hotel, clean, hot water, comfy bed, elevator, breakfast served in my room (due to Covid restrictions), I highly recommend!

I stayed at this hotel on four different occasions while traveling between Cusco and the sacred valley. Beyond the excellent location I can highly recommend the WiFi. I needed good internet for work, and here I had downloads of 60mbps and uploads of 10mbps, totally sufficient for a streaming video conference call. In addition—hopefully this won’t be necessary much longer—superb cleaning practices for those with concerns about Covid. Great hospitality. By the last visit I felt like family!
